For the first week of October, the last of the decorations and furniture were going into the house, with their interior decorator taking the lead on it all to really make every room it's own but blended beautifully.

From the formal living room with a window overlooking the drive to the modern art pieces hung on the walls to add life to the halls.

All the decor, art, rugs, curtains, blinds and more were picked by Kaia and Mapi from their designer's collection, so it was all to their liking and matched perfectly.

When they walked into their home for the first time since it was officially 'finished' they both had genuine tears in their eyes.

It was such an accomplishing feeling seeing a house full of so much warmth and character and knowing it was their home, the excitement of moving their things in only making them more emotional.

But today they were here for a very specific reason, so they both trailed up the stairs while Jill and Ingrid babysat Fabian for the morning.

In their bedroom they found the team who had been assembling all of the furniture in the house, they were all busy at work unpacking the large Emperor size bed frame and mattress and getting it into position along the wall.

Mapi was immediately drawn to the mattress still wrapped and leaning against one of the walls, poking it just to be reminded of how soft and deep it was.

"Are these all the bedsheets and mattress covers we ordered?" Kaia asks while walking to the corner where a few boxes were put aside.

"Yeah, the autumn-y looking ones are in the box by the archway." One of the guys stops attaching bed slats to say.

Kaia nods and grabs the box, heading back towards Mapi who was still admiring their mattress with a smile. "Come on, let's go wash these so they're ready when the beds ready."

"First time in the laundry room. How exciting." Mapi teases, her eyes lingering into Fabian's nursery when they step out onto the hall. It had the characters sketched out on the back wall but she hadn't come around to painting it yet.

"You're going to have to figure out how to use the machines, because honestly I haven't got a clue." Kaia chuckles.

Since they had two washing machines in their laundry/wet room, they could get to washing the coloured bedding and bed throw as well as the white mattress cover and pillow cases.

The second they got to sorting and filling the machines, Kaia realised just how much she loved the efficiency of this room. There was space for them to move around each other, do their own sets of washing or drying and the counter space to fold and sort clothes was massive, with the natural light of the back garden washing in and a wooden bench built in for their children to take off their muddy boots before running through the house.

Geeking out over a laundry room was probably the epitome of being an adult, a parent who knew these daily task rooms were the most important thing to get right.

But the room that truly had her acting ironically like a child was the kitchen. Because it was better than she imagined, so much counter space to make pasta from scratch and serve masses of food to their friends, endless efficient storage space for their pots and pan sets, mugs and glasses, kitchen appliances, dinner sets and then the walk in pantry for all the dry foods, spices and more storage.

Not to mention the massive double fridges and freezers built in.

It was just incredible.

So as the bedding washed, as Kaia looked through every kitchen drawer like she didn't take the reins in designing it herself, Mapi just watched on, so content in life.
