AN: Happy New Year everyone, enjoy!
𑁍
With the fact that neither Kaia nor Mapi journeyed to their national camps for check in, it was obvious there was something going on.
The fans speculated good and bad, while the media outlets couldn't confirm anything since the married couple were keeping everything airtight.
Only their families and teammates knew about the incredible news and new person they've just introduced to the world.
Only they would know for the next few days, to keep the calm and private atmosphere.
Waking up with her face buried in Kaia's chest, Mapi knew the sadness she immediately felt was one she was going to have to get used to.
She'd have to leave Fabian a lot for various camps, they'd have to choose who he'd travel with so he was always with one of them.
It was upsetting, but like Kaia said: it's only two days and then they'll be a family again for the entire month of June.
So Mapi rolled off Kaia and lazily looked over to Fabian who was still asleep. She wishes every morning could be like this.
He was still tightly within his swaddle on his back, face calm and eyes peacefully closed. He didn't really do much when he was awake anyway; apart from crying, crapping and staring.
Since he was still asleep, Mapi decided she'd make herself and Kaia some breakfast before she left, so she climbed out of bed as quietly as possible and made her way to the kitchen.
But when she opened the fridge to grab the eggs, she was met with the most mouthwatering smells of meats, homemade sauces and cheeses.
She knew exactly what it was and snatched the neatly wrapped sandwich up off the top shelf to see it tied with a bow and a love heart sharpied onto the brown paper.
God, she loves her wife.
The kind gesture makes Mapi put that little bit more of extra love into breakfast, using heart shaped cookie cutters to make the sunny side up eggs and adding all of Kaia's favourite fuelling meats and carbs to make her own version of a healthy English breakfast.
Chicken sausages, sourdough toast and turkey bacon is what Kaia wakes to, that as well as Mapi quietly telling Fabian he was too young to eat food yet but he can have some in six months or so.
"Is he awake?" Kaia asks as she rolls over to face Mapi's empty side of the bed, seeing a tray full of those foods she could smell sat right there. "Mm, god." She sighs as she reaches for a piece of bacon.
Mapi chuckles at Kaia not caring that they have food in the bed, instead she answers the question. "No, he's still asleep. Crying must've taken a lot out of him." She says with a gentle smile down at him. "I don't think Alejandro will start me tonight."
Kaia quirks an eyebrow, leaning up on her elbow to eat her beautifully presented breakfast. "Why not?"
Mapi shrugs, dejectedly. "I'm tired, I haven't trained with the squad, it's a game we need to win." She lists. "It's not like we haven't got other fantastic centre backs."
"Yeah, but you're better than all of them." Kaia replies softly, her eyes flickering between her food and wife. "You have activation training this afternoon though, right? You might feel more energetic getting a ball back at your feet... and some food in your stomach."
Mapi's lips lift briefly and she perches on the bed just below the crib, reaching for her own fork. "I saw the sandwich you made me in the fridge, thank you." She says as she leans over the food to kiss Kaia's lips. "It smells amazing."
