Landing in Athens that same evening, the newlyweds got settled into their stunning sunrise suite at the resort on the Lagonissi peninsula.
It was the perfect place to wake by the ocean, be just outside of the hustle and bustle of the city, but with a short hour drive to see the acropolis and ancient architecture.
Kaia was an absolute sucker for Greek and Roman history. She spend many evenings watching documentaries and gushing to Mapi about the facts she knew of the Roman Empire and all the conquering wars and how they built these mammoth metropolises.
So Greece was her idea of heaven.
Mapi had her own passion for admiring history around the world, her artistic side always having a fascination with architecture and statues and art. And Kaia's love for documentaries made her jump on that bandwagon and become a history nerd herself.
Greece was definitely one of her dream destinations, making it a perfect honeymoon for them both.
"What do you think?" Mapi asks as she walks back into the bedroom from the en-suite. "Nice quiet dinner at one of the restaurants here or try to find somewhere else?"
"I think we should eat here." Kaia says, lying on the bed and clearly showing how tired she is. "Then we can get an early night and go swimming at sunrise, before we drive up to Athens."
Mapi grins, loving the idea. "Sounds perfect, mi amor." She agrees. "Plus we're only here one night so we should take advantage of the five star menus." She adds on while picking up the menu of the most highly rated restaurant at the resort.
At the very obvious hint that they're going to spoil themselves during the season, Kaia smiles as gives a lazy point over to a doorway. "Have you seen the gym?"
Mapi's head shoots up to the doorway and she's quickly making her way over with the menu still in hand.
The gym wasn't much with the lack of space in the room, but there was a running machine, a shelf of free weights along with a bench.
It was enough for a decent workout after swimming tomorrow.
"Ok, cariño." Mapi walks back into the middle room with an even bigger smile. "I'm spoiling you tonight, get whatever you want."
Kaia laughs and sits up, looking at her proudly amused wife. "We're paying off our joint account." She informs Mapi of a fact she is clearly aware of.
"Don't know what you're talking about." Mapi shakes her head and looks down to the €250 steak meal. "Shall we go for a Greek place?" She wanders over to the other menus and looks for one that's actually have the local foods. "What about Ta... Ta Ka... KaApuipya?" She attempts to pronounce the Greek word, but instead butchers it and makes Kaia laugh loudly. "You try to say it then, go on." She takes the menu over to Kaia who's still on the bed.
Kaia takes it, reading Ta Καλάμια. She has no idea how to say that either really, but she tries with a false sense of confidence. "Ta Kaupia." She guesses.
"Is that how you say it?" Mapi takes the menu back with furrowed eyebrows, convinced by Kaia's confidence.
"I have no idea." Kaia laughs as she finally gets up and heads to the bathroom to check how sleep deprived she looks. "Black tonight, yeah?"
"Ok." Mapi easily agrees, opening her suitcase to look for her black date outfit.
Since they'd been traveling and checking things online, they were both aware of the absolute blowup from their fans. They knew getting married would do that, but it was even more amusing because neither of them have commented on the obvious pictures of them in their wedding dresses and at the party.
