218. Wedding Celebrations Part Three

The sun slowly left the sky, the children began to dwindle out along with some parents and the music along with the dancing became more X-rated.

Leila was flirting with Kaia's mum at the bar, while Jenni was flirting with Kaia's cousin on one of the empty tables across the dance floor.

Kaia wasn't sure which to be more wary of, actually she knew exactly which one and her eyes lingered on Jenni to read her body language and intentions. She looked like she was truly trying to get to know Gia, not just after some fun while they're both here and drunk.

"Give her a chance." Mapi says from the seat at Kaia's side around the random table they've joined some of their joint friends at. "You know she has a good heart."

Seating plans were long left with the formal meals. 

Kaia glances to Mapi in recognition. "I told you, Mexico is too far." She replies. "Gia will want someone who she can actually be with, someone who can bond and have a proper relationship with Lio too; help raise him and be a real support system."

"Mm." Mapi hums in understanding and some agreement. "I see your point. But if Gia is letting herself get to know Jenni, why not let us see where it goes?" She suggests.

"Has Jenni even been with someone with a child before?" Kaia asks with a slight sigh. She loves and trusts Jenni, she just hopes the Spanish striker either cuts off early or doesn't lead the two along for months and then suddenly realise a child on top is too much work.

Mapi didn't actually know the answer to that question, but she was pleasantly surprised to see Jenni was still interested after being shellshocked by Aurelio. Although Mapi did have to endure a whole ten minutes of Jenni shouting at her for not telling her; more like rambling in panic and worry because obviously this is no small thing despite Aurelio being a small thing himself.

Kaia's eyes stayed on the two laughing and leaning towards each other, spotting Aurelio walking over with very little energy left. It was a surprise he was still awake. He spoke to Gia quietly while leaning across her lap, and then the two Italians both looked to Jenni.

Jenni stood with a smile, lifting the tired five year old up into her arms so they could walk through the drunker dancing towards the tapas bar.

No one around the table other than Mapi and Alexia knew the significance to the small lift of Kaia's lips as they all watched the way Jenni held Aurelio close, shielding him from the unsavoury behaviour.

It was acceptance in Kaia's expression.

"Uh oh, Jenni's trying to steal a child." Pina points over to the striker who's putting a plate of Spanish finger foods together, eating some herself while feeding the odd piece to the boy in her left arm.

"You're a child, why doesn't she steal you?" Patri replies, extremely drunk and having been coerced to sit down by Emilia for a breather.

A gentle but loud snore reminds everyone that there's an actual child at the table, fast asleep on Mapi's chest having jumped up into her lap for food and then collapsed there.

Mia's cheek was squished against the front of Mapi's shoulder, facing practically the whole table and they could all see how peaceful and deep she slept with Mapi's arms around her.

It definitely made Kaia's ovaries flutter in anticipation.

But it handicapped Mapi's ability to do anything other than be a human pillow for a Morelli... not her first time.

Thankfully a body stops just behind her and a hand touches her spare shoulder gently. "Mapi, darling, let me take her off you and up to bed."

It was Elinor who had walked over from the cocktail bar with a smirky Leila, but the moment everyone heard Elinor's deep and silky voice they all knew exactly who Kaia inherited it from.
