226. Negotiations

Everyone gathered in the meeting room at 9am on Monday morning. Some of them knew what this meeting was about, since Alexia and Mapi had both signed their new contracts last week and others were also opening up negotiations for extensions.

But for the majority it was a mystery other than knowing they were going through some official things like scheduling, hotel and travel discussion for their trip to Zaragoza in the Copa de la Reina final.

Once everything expected was talked through by Jonatan and his team, Joan made his way to the front from where he was sitting aside and observing.

The slide on the board then changed to a rough timeline of the next six years; and the swap over from Cupra badge to Ferrari was the first thing everyone noticed.

All heads spun like owls to look at Miss Ferrari at the back, but Kaia only raised an amused eyebrow when she caught a few of their eyes. This wasn't all her, she wasn't the one who had the authority to actually make it happen. So she was a listener here too.

Joan clears his throat and because Ferrari are getting onboard next month, they're the first thing he speaks about; telling the players what they need to know. "...this large shift in sponsorship will be slowly integrated into the club. So those of you with Cupras now will be able to keep your cars until the end of your current contracts or get a new car if you wish."

It was mainly the veteran and detrimental players who had sponsored cars, those who had contracts valuable enough for a car bonus to be considered appropriate.

"But as of August, Ferrari will officially be onboard, they will offer us funding, request advertisement with certain players at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya which I have been told is the home of our collaboration." Joan continues, flicking the presentation behind him to show all the detailed figures and some mockup pictures. "And possible the most exciting, they will sponsor overseas training camps for both the men and the women's team; equally."

"When and where are we going?" Vicky asks before she can stop herself.

Joan chuckles at the youthful excitement, sparing a look over to Jonatan who unfortunately won't be here next season to plan any. "Nothing hasn't been finalised, so I'm not sure yet. Maybe focus on the season you're still within?" 

Vicky nods and looks down to calm herself, but she can't hide the grin knowing she might get to drive a Ferrari.

Alexia leans forward in her seat discreetly, so she can whisper to Kaia. "Look what you've done. They're all vibrating in their seats." She teases.

And indeed everyone under the age of 21 were sporting excited grins with their legs bouncing in anticipation.

"Now," Joan moves the presentation on, hearing low whistles when two Ferraris appear onscreen. "Moving forward there will be two models of Ferrari we can offer as a possible bonus in contracts. The new Cipriana is the latest hybrid model designed be Ferrari for eco-friendly city driving."

"God," Mapi mutters. "Imagine a Ferrari with a full electric engine." She grimaces. "Not the same if you can't hear that baby purr."

"Shh." Kaia gently nudges her wife's arm. "You're not having this one anyway."

Mapi smirks but doesn't reply.

"The Cipriana comes in two body styles." Joan explains. "This is the main model, a 4x4, five seater, large boot area and sporting interior. While this is the Cipriana Poco; a compacted version of the same car, still five seats but a smaller boot and car length."
