In the week building up to Bilbao there was a lot to do. Preparation for the match took full priority, but the club made sure to announce the renewal of Alexia, tease that big things are coming and truly make the build up week full of excitement and anticipation.
Kaia also had to make sure to tell Leah and Alessia that they were about to be aunties, while Mapi was doing the exact same with her friends she doesn't see daily.
Everyone on the team knew, Jonatan congratulated them and then told them to get back to training. It was good he didn't think it would distract them, that he knew they had the ability to put personal matter aside for the hours of training each day and the game itself.
The game which brought so many English fans over to Spain, so much hype and recognition given to both teams and every individual player travelling for the best game in club football.
They weren't the only ones travelling, Jenni and Leila both quickly booked flights when they got the news about the baby; already planning to go to final anyway, while Kaia's parents were flying over liked planned with Kaia's cousins Jake, Grace, Davy and Bosco.
Laura was going for Keira, Emilia was going for Patri, but what was a little suspicious was when Misa turned up alongside Emilia; clearly having traveled from the capital together.
As a Real Madrid player, everyone was assuming she was there to root for the other team. But she was also there to watch the other team, the team who want her and the team that honestly intrigued her. She was also wanting to see who her competition would be if she did make the move to London, see the way Zinsberger dictates her box and performs on the biggest of stages.
Barcelona had beaten Arsenal before. But that was two years ago, so much had changed and the London team were completely different now.
During the pitch inspections, Kaia wandered over to a group of Arsenal players who were all taking in the large stadium, the big screen displaying the final to everyone and the stands beginning to fill half an hour early.
It was clear they were all awed, proud to be here and feeling very positive despite being against the reigning champions in their country.
"Kaia!" Alessia sees her first, scooting past Kyra to hug her national teammate. "I know he isn't born yet but congratulations, I can't wait to meet him." She mumbles into the hug, aware it's a top secret still.
"Thank you." Kaia hugs Alessia back with just the same happiness. "I'll make sure you meet him as soon as possible."
Leah was quick to join the hug, or more like take Kaia from Alessia's arms to hug her herself. "I'm really trying to focus today but send me so many pictures, please." She quietly demands.
"I will, you'll both be bombarded with a lot of pictures and videos." Kaia promises them both in amusement. "Then maybe after the season ends you can come to Barcelona and meet him."
"God, I wish you could just bring him to camp." Leah chuckles. "You are travelling to France, right?"
"That is the plan, hopefully." Kaia nods, soberly. "But it all depends on how the first few days go, it's all up in the air really."
"Hola." Ona greets from behind Kaia, walking over to hug Alessia. "First Champions League final, I told you we'd both get here."
"Yeah, and neither of us for United." Alessia replies amusedly, her and Ona wandering off towards the centre circle.
So Kaia spends a few more minutes talking with Leah; about the baby, the next international camp, and the game they were about to play against each other in.
