After the school day ended, Danielle headed out to Magix to meet Alistair. They had stayed in touch throughout the holidays, but this was the first time they were seeing each other since the break.
As Danielle made her way through the bustling streets of Magix, she felt a flutter of excitement and nerves. The city was alive with its usual charm—magical lights twinkling in shop windows, the scent of pastries wafting through the air, and the hum of conversation from passing pedestrians.
She arrived at their meeting spot, a quaint café known for its cosy atmosphere and enchanting décor. It was a place they had sometimes visited together.
She took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart. Alistair had been a constant presence in her thoughts over the holidays, and now that they were finally meeting face-to-face again, she wanted everything to be perfect.
As she waited, she spotted Alistair approaching from across the street. He was wearing a casual yet stylish outfit, his smile growing wider as he saw her. The moment their eyes met, Danielle felt a rush of warmth. Alistair's expression was a mix of relief and joy, and she couldn't help but return his smile.
"Danielle!" Alistair called out as he reached her, his voice filled with genuine happiness. He closed the distance between them and pulled her into a warm embrace. "It's so good to see you."
Danielle hugged him back. "It's great to see you too, Alistair. I've missed you."
They pulled away, and Alistair looked at her with a playful grin. "I've missed you too. I was starting to think the holidays would never end. Let's make the most of today."
They settled into a corner booth of the café, the soft glow of the fairy lights creating a magical ambiance around them. As they chatted about their holiday adventures, shared stories, and caught up on each other's lives, it felt as though no time had passed at all. The connection between them was as strong as ever, and the simple joy of being together again made the afternoon feel like a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of their everyday lives.
"I really missed you, Alistair," Danielle began, her voice filled with sincerity as they stood outside the café, the afternoon sun casting a warm glow around them.
Alistair's cheeks flushed slightly, his shyness evident as he looked down, but a smile tugged at his lips. "I missed you too, Danielle. It's been... well, it's been a while since we've had a chance to talk like this."
Danielle took a deep breath, gathering her courage. "You know, we've been talking for quite some time now, and I really enjoy our conversations. I think there's something special between us."
Alistair's eyes met hers, his expression a mix of surprise and hope. "I've been thinking the same thing."
Danielle felt a surge of determination. She had been hinting about her feelings for a while, but now it was time to be more direct. "So, I was thinking... Would you like to go out with me sometime?"
Alistair blinked in confusion. "But we're already out?"
Danielle gave him an unimpressed look. "I meant as a date."
Alistair's face turned a shade of red as realisation dawned on him. "Oh, a date," he stammered, his voice softening as a shy smile crept onto his lips. "I'd really like that, Danielle."
Danielle's expression softened, her initial frustration melting away. "Good, because I've been waiting for you to ask, but I figured it was time to take matters into my own hands."
Alistair chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of his neck. "I'm glad you did. I've wanted to ask you out for a while, but I wasn't sure if you felt the same."
