Chapter sixteen

"How were classes today?" Pollen asked as the pixies flew in to greet their fairies, who had just entered the dorm.

"Tasking, that's what," Artemisia answered. Pollen perched comfortably on her shoulder.

"You had that new teacher's class today, didn't you?" Cybele enquired, floating around Lithia.

"Yeah, we did," Lithia replied, looking thoughtful.

"Well, we pixies also had a busy day," Gladys and Violette chimed in as they flew into the room, carrying a tray of mini cupcakes. "We baked these!"

The sweet scent of cupcakes filled the air as the pixies presented their treats.

"How sweet," Danielle said, gently patting Violette on the head. "Thank you for the treats!"

Violette beams, her eyes sparkling with joy. "We hope you like them. We tried to make them extra special!"

Gladys handed a cupcake to Luna, her bright smile warming the room. "Here you go, Luna! I hope you like it."

The other girls eagerly reached for the cupcakes, excited to taste the sweet treats. As they took bites, the room was filled with delighted exclamations and laughter.

"This is amazing!" Crystal said, savouring her cupcake. "You all did a great job!"

Symphony, who had been hovering nearby. "I'm so glad you all are enjoying them. We wanted to make your day a little brighter!"

"We used the school's kitchen to bake the cupcakes, but the chef wasn't too pleased with the idea," Kiki narrated with a playful grin. "Thank goodness we were already done baking by the time he chased us out."

The fairies burst into laughter, picturing the scene of the pixies hurriedly finishing their baking before being shooed away.

"Sounds like quite the adventure," Carissa said with a chuckle. "But the cupcakes are definitely worth it!"

As the laughter and conversation continued, Fanfare flew into the dorm through the open window, her tiny trumpet sounding a cheerful note.

"Fanfare!" the pixies exclaimed, fluttering excitedly around her.

"We haven't seen you around much lately," Crystal said with a smile.

Fanfare giggled, her wings fluttering with delight. "That's because I finally bonded with a fairy! Her name is Lina, and she's a first-year student. I got a bit lost on my way to your dorm and bumped into her. It turns out she was lost, too. We bonded immediately!"

The fairies and pixies exchanged smiles, clearly pleased for Fanfare.

"That's wonderful news!" Artemisia said. "It sounds like you've found a great friend."

"Yeah, congratulations!" Lithia added. "It must be nice to have a bonded fairy."

Fanfare beamed. "Thank you! Lina and I have been having a great time getting to know each other. I'm really happy we found each other."

The room filled with congratulatory chatter as the fairies and pixies celebrated Fanfare's new bond.

"Now, the real reason I came here," Fanfare said, pulling out a piece of paper and clearing her throat.

"Dear fairies," she began reading aloud, "the gentlemen of Red Fountain cordially invite you all as their plus-ones to join them for their opening day ceremony."

The fairies exchanged excited glances; their curiosity piqued.

"What an exciting invitation!" Artemisia said, her eyes sparkling with interest.
