After a while, the journey finally came to an end. The fairies stretched as the airship touched down, each of them grateful to stand on solid ground again.

"Feels like we've been flying forever," Carissa muttered, rubbing her neck.

"But we made it," Danielle said, scanning the unfamiliar terrain around them. The distant landscape was rugged and imposing, with tall cliffs and shadowed forests stretching far and wide.

Daniel stepped out first, checking the surroundings. "Everyone sticks together. According to the note, the meeting point with the witches isn't far from here."

Luna took a deep breath. "Right. Let's stay sharp. They won't make this easy for us."

"I'll stay with the ship in case of emergencies," Evander volunteered, settling himself near the controls.

"Good call," Alistair said, giving him an encouraging pat on the shoulder before everyone else disembarked.

As they stepped onto the rocky ground, the fairies felt a sense of unease creeping over them. Shadows shifted among the cliffs, and an unnatural silence hung in the air.

"Does anyone else have a bad feeling about this?" Lithia whispered, glancing around warily.

"Let's stay focused," Danielle replied, her voice steady. "We're here for our pixies. That's all that matters."

The group moved cautiously forward; they knew the witches wouldn't let this trade happen without a fight, but they weren't sure if they were prepared for it.

They trekked carefully through the rocky terrain, every crunch of gravel underfoot magnified in the silence. Shadows danced along the cliffs, and a faint mist began to curl around them, making it hard to see too far ahead.

"Stay close, everyone," Darian whispered. "We don't know what tricks they've set up."

Ahead, a flickering light appeared, casting eerie shadows against the mist. As they drew closer, the figures of Scarlett, Tasma, and Electra slowly emerged, standing in a clearing with smug expressions, their eyes glittering in anticipation.

"Right on time," Scarlett sneered, her crimson jewel pulsing faintly. "You brought the Codex, I presume?"

Danielle held the Codex tightly, her jaw set. "Release our pixies, then we'll talk."

Tasma laughed, waving her hand as a translucent orb materialised above them, showing the trapped pixies huddled together inside, looking frightened but unharmed.

"See?" Tasma drawled. "Perfectly safe... for now."

Crystal stepped forward, her eyes flashing. "We didn't come here to play games, Tasma. Let them go."

Electra shrugged, her own blue gem glinting as she leaned back casually. "Oh, but what's the fun in that? Let's make sure this little trade goes according to plan."

A tense silence fell over the clearing as both sides stared each other down. The witches waited with anticipation, clearly expecting resistance.

"Just hand it over, and we'll set them free," Scarlett coaxed, feigning innocence as she extended her hand for the Codex.

Danielle took a steadying breath, gripping the Codex tighter, her gaze unwavering. "We don't trust you. How do we know you'll hold up your end of the deal?"

"Looks like you'll just need to have a little faith," Scarlett sneered. "Now, hand it over!"

Danielle took a few reluctant steps forward and placed the Codex into Scarlett's outstretched hand. A sinister smile spread across Scarlett's face as the grotesque creature from earlier swooped down, snatching the Codex and vanishing instantly.
