Scarlett emerged from the shadows, flanked by Tasma and Electra, their towering, grotesque monsters snarling at their sides. The witches' ominous presence sent a shiver through the group, and all eyes snapped toward them.
Danielle's fists clenched as she stepped forward, her gaze fixed on the abominations. "I'd almost forgotten how revolting those creatures are."
"You really thought you could escape us?" Tasma sneered, her laughter echoing ominously as the other witches joined in, their jeers filling the tense silence. The remaining pixies hid behind their fairies.
"We're not afraid of you," Darian declared as he drew his staff.
"Oh, really?" Scarlett taunted, a sinister grin curling on her lips. "Let's see how long that lasts."
"We can't let them cause more damage to the ship," Daniel said, addressing the group with urgency. "Fighting them here isn't an option."
"So, we just run?" Crystal asked.
"It's our best move right now. I'll let Cybele know about the change," Daniel replied, already planning their next steps.
Before he could act, Scarlett raised a hand, the red jewel on her forehead glowing ominously. "Let's end this quickly. Monsters, attack!"
The grotesque creatures roared in unison, their thunderous cries shaking the ground as they charged forward.
"They're coming!" Artemisia yelled. Without hesitation, the group turned and sprinted into the forest, disappearing among the dense trees as the monsters gave chase.
"Cowards! After them!" Electra's voice thundered, her anger reverberating through the forest. She raised her arm, the blue jewel on her leg bracelet glowing brightly. "DARK BOLT!"
Crackling spheres of dark energy shot from her hands, exploding against trees and scattering debris around the group. The ground shook violently, and the noise of splintering wood filled the air.
"Keep moving!" Evander shouted, trying to lead the group. "Don't stop!"
But the relentless bombardment made it nearly impossible. Trees fell, cutting off paths, and thick clouds of dust and smoke began to obscure their vision.
"We're getting boxed in!" Luna cried, dodging a blast that sent her stumbling over a fallen branch.
"Let's split up!" Darian yelled instinctively, veering left through the dense forest.
"Isn't that more dangerous?" Artemisia countered, trying to keep pace, but her protest was cut short as she tripped over a protruding branch and tumbled to the ground.
"Artemisia!" Pollen exclaimed, flitting to her side in alarm, her tiny wings fluttering rapidly.
"Let's go, Artemisia!" Thorne said, crouching to help her up. Without waiting for a reply, he pulled her along, steering them down a different path.
In the chaos, the group fragmented into six smaller units, each dashing in separate directions. The sounds of shouts and hurried footsteps grew fainter as the dense forest swallowed them one by one.
"Those cowardly losers," Tasma groaned, her tone dripping with irritation as she hovered above, scanning the forest floor for signs of movement.
"After them," Scarlett ordered sharply. The monsters roared in acknowledgement, their hulking forms splitting into groups to follow each scattered team.
Electra smirked as her jewel began to glow faintly. "This is going to be fun. Let's see how long they can run before we catch them."
Tasma rolled her eyes but grinned darkly. "They'll regret trying to escape. Let's pick them off one by one."
