Chapter 7:

-Katniss-

Being my stubborn self, I’ve refused food and water. I’ve known how it felt like to starve so I didn’t have much of a problem there. I’ve been thinking of ways to escape, and all I could think of was the window which was highly impossible considering its’ distance from the ground.

I was trying to reach the window by standing on the window but I heard the keys on the other side of the door. Without thinking, I jumped from the table and landed with a thud. I quickly got up and tried to look normal as possible. It was hard though, I felt a throbbing pain in my ankle.

My kidnapper appears with a tray of food. His twin was at the door, eyes looking for whatever he wanted. They left me soon, but I got a clear view of the other side of the door. A homey cabin was the first thing that registered in my mind. Frustrated, I groan and finish the glass of water.

-Clove-

It’s been a day since Peeta claimed my cousin was missing. Hours since we got any sleep. Minutes have passed since the cops informed us they found no clues. Then there’s seconds. Seconds before I might consider hiring a private investigator

“Clove, calm down” Marvel tells me. I’ve been pacing around the room, restless as the clock ticked.

“I can’t Marvel. It’s my cousin we’re talking about here and she’s missing” I say annoyed at everyone who previously tried to get me to stay still.

I glance around the room. Glimmer was on the phone, speaking silently with her uncle who agreed to help. Johanna and Annie were watching the news just in case there might be reports about Kat. Finn was staring intently out the window beside Annie. Peeta was puffy-eyed and silent in the corner. I heard Cato whistling in the other room and here I am, pacing while Marvel tries to calm me down.

“You haven’t been eating” he says.

“I know. I’m too worried to eat” I snap.

Why can’t they leave me to think?

“Alright. But I think maybe you should just take a breath-“

My eyes meet his.

“Take a breath? Do you think I can take a goddamn minute for myself when my cousin is missing?!?” I snap in his face, drawing attention to us. Even Cato popped his head in to see what the noise was about.

“I was just-“

“I know. Everyone’s been telling me to take it slow and keep calm but what if I can’t? I appreciate the concern but I don’t need it” I say it in his face.

His features change instantly from the worried mask he previously wore to a stony one.

“I was just trying to help. Dammit Clove. You’re seriously getting on my nerves” he yells back.

I stay silent and refuse to look at him.

“If it makes you feel better I’ll leave. We’re done” he says and heads for the door, slamming it behind him.

My frown deepens. Glimmer gives me a look that is somewhere between concerned and sympathetic. Peeta didn’t bother listening to what happened.

I went in the room me Johanna and Katniss shared and slammed the door behind me. I scream in frustration and let my anger out. Right now, I felt nothing but anger and hate.

-Peeta-

I’ve been stuck in my thoughts for God knows how long. I was worried sick. She was trapped somewhere, probable even hurt. Who knows? I don’t even want to think what else might’ve happened to her.
