Chapter 17: Toast

Chapter 17:

-Katniss-

Our plan was in action. We went back to our room to change into black pajamas, just for dramatic effect.

“Glim” I hiss into the phone.

“What is it?” she asks.

“I need the spare keys” I say.

“You’re planning something aren’t you?” she asks.

“Yes”

“As long as my room stays out of it” she negotiated.

I thought about it for a few moments, it would go fine without her.

“Deal. Just meet me in front of the library for the keys".

I nod to Clove who takes off. I grin and make my way silently to the library. Glimmer was there, standing with a nervous look.

“My room will have no part in your plan” she says once again.

“Yes Glim. Keys please?” I ask.

I return to the hallway where our rooms were. I pressed my ear against the door and Clove appears beside me.

“You got them?” I ask.

She nods and holds up a box, which she got from the storage room. I sprayed the other ends of the door with water so it would stay silent. We both slipped inside. The room was dark which was good. There were three figures fast asleep.

I saw Peeta’s blonde hair poking out from the blankets. I assumed the other person to be Marvel and the other as Gale. We put down the box and started to look at its’ contents. Clove rushed out, saying she needed to go to the bathroom. I roll my eyes and continue to look.

All of a sudden a hand grasps my arm. I inhale sharply.

“Relax brainless it’s me” Johanna says silently.

“Need help?” she offers.

I smile and nod. I take out the clothes and approach the closets where their luggage is stored. Johanna and I empty their luggage and fill them with the clothes we brought with us.

“Perfect” I say and we both flee their room.

Clove was waiting outside with another box.

“The good part is, I saw they were all in their bottoms” Johanna says.

I couldn’t help but laugh.

“We have to catch them once they go out” Clove says.

We all nod and agree. We enter Finn and Cato’s room. The three of us approached the two beds.

“I can’t see them” Jo whispers.

“They’re under the covers. I think” Clove replies.

“Wait” I say. I peeked under one of the covers to find pillows underneath it.

“We’ve been tricked!” I warn them.

Our eyes widen and the door behind us shut. Clove looks at the other bed and it was empty as well. We heard Finn and Cato’s laughter from the outside.

“Little…” Johanna trails off.

“Congratulations girls, your plans have failed” Cato says.

“I have my keys” I tell Clove and Jo.

I was reaching into my pocket when I heard Finn speak.

“You mean the spare key cards that was left on the door?”
