Li Si frowned slightly at this last request, but quickly agreed with a confident nod. Then, he outlined his escape plan.

The group worked together to refine the plan, confirming their roles before they were done. When Li Si left, he patted his chest and assured them that they could rest assured.

Mo Ran wanted to roll her eyes. How could she trust a guy who was constantly scheming?

But she also knew that cooperating with Li Si was inevitable. They needed the fighting power from his group to clear the way.

Li Si had killed people, but he hadn't killed anyone related to Mo Ran. So, she didn't need to be stubborn with him. Mo Ran understood the logic.

But she wouldn't talk to Li Si about cooperation for the sake of her pride. That's why Zhang Wan Ying took the initiative to speak for her.

After nightfall, Li Si sent two guys from his group to keep watch. Before, when it was just the two of them on the rooftop, the zombies weren't as attracted to them, so they didn't need to keep watch. Now that there were more people, it was hard to guarantee that nothing would happen.

The plan to escape from the school tomorrow was likely to be the most thrilling thing they had ever done, from birth to now.

One slip-up could lead to the entire group's demise. Everyone felt a sense of panic. They said the two of them would take turns keeping watch, but in reality, many couldn't sleep.

Each person was both anticipating and dreading the arrival of tomorrow, until they finally fell asleep in the middle of the night. Fortunately, nothing unexpected happened that night.

The next day, at noon.

The group packed their backpacks, each with dark circles under their eyes, but they didn't dare show any fatigue.

Mo Ran handed her backpack to Zhang Wan Ying, double-checking that her limbs were loose, before giving the worried-looking girl a reassuring smile.

"Maybe I should do it instead." Zhang Wan Ying grabbed her wrist.

"No, with your lung capacity, you wouldn't even make it a few meters. No one here is more suitable than me. I'm a long-distance running champion," Mo Ran joked, trying to sound lighthearted.

The escape plan was very simple, still the old bait tactic, but with more detailed adjustments in the division of labor, everyone would participate.

But there was one position that no one wanted to take, the bait, which was almost a suicide mission.

Mo Ran volunteered for this task without hesitation. As she said, no one was more suitable than her.

Neither in terms of physical strength nor courage.

Zhang Wan Ying lowered her head, feeling a pang of discomfort. For the first time, she felt disgusted with her own body. If she were stronger, she could have taken this dangerous task for Mo Ran.

Seeing her guilt and self-blame, Mo Ran sighed, gently patted her shoulder, and smiled confidently, revealing her teeth.

"Don't worry, you take our belongings and escape with them. I'll shake off the zombies and catch up with you soon."

Zhang Wan Ying pursed her lips, looking up at her face, which was no cleaner than hers. Even though she couldn't see her original features, her eyes still shone brightly.

Even brighter than the dazzling sunlight, captivating and impossible to look away from.

"Pinky promise," Zhang Wan Ying took a deep breath, looking serious. "If you lie, you'll be a little duck."
