The cold expression on her face, made even more sinister by the bloodstains, made Mo Ran's heart tremble. Was this the cold-blooded, ruthless person Zhang Wan Ying?
Wasn't she a weakling?
Only after confirming that the zombie was dead, deader than dead, did she reach out to wipe the blood off her face. Then, she grabbed the hammer and ran towards Mo Ran, her face full of tension.
"Run." She grabbed Mo Ran's hand, no further words needed.
Mo Ran was still dazed, looking at the bloodstains on the other person's cheek. She was pulled up and her mind was still trying to process how this weakling had become so powerful. She forgot to ask why they were running.
But she didn't forget to grab the box of instant noodles and tuck it under her arm as she ran.
After leaving the employee dormitory building, they started running. They didn't stop until they reached the bottom of the construction building, and then Mo Ran understood why they were running.
Countless zombies were gathered at the entrance of the construction site, pounding on the iron gate and the iron plate fence next to it, making it shake violently.
She almost dropped the box of instant noodles. Where did all these zombies come from? Why did they suddenly gather here... Was it because of her scream?
She tripped over some stones and stumbled. Mo Ran turned her head and stared blankly at the back of the person in front of her. This scene felt familiar.
When they came here, she was the one pulling the other person inside. Now, their positions were reversed, but the essence remained the same: they were escaping.
Escape, escape, escape. They had no power to fight against the horde of zombies, they could only run, like weak prey desperately trying to avoid the hunter's encirclement.
When had humans ever suffered such humiliation? They had always been superior, looking down on all living creatures, acting recklessly on this beautiful land.
But one day, the world changed. Humans had an enemy, an enemy that wanted to exterminate them. These enemies were themselves.
Was this nature's revenge? To punish them, these parasitic creatures. But wasn't this revenge a little too cruel?
Had everyone done wrong?
What had she done wrong? Since she was a child, her mother had always taught her to protect the environment. She brought her own cloth bag to the supermarket, fed stray cats and dogs when she saw them, and volunteered at the animal protection association during summer and winter vacations...
She, too, was within the scope of nature's revenge.
For the first time since the apocalypse, Mo Ran had suicidal thoughts. Not the joking kind, but a genuine urge to end her own life.
If she died, she wouldn't be afraid of zombies anymore, she wouldn't feel the despair and helplessness.
She rushed to the rooftop. Zhang Wan Ying locked the door, but didn't stop there. She immediately started searching the rooftop for anything that could be used to barricade the door, piling anything she found at the entrance.
Mo Ran stood there, watching her work, her feet uncontrollably moving towards the edge of the rooftop. She looked down, and the roars of the zombie horde echoed in her ears, filling her with dread.
They had finally pushed down the iron gate, swarming in, rushing into the construction site, disappearing beneath the construction building. Mo Ran couldn't see them anymore.
