TRAVIS' POV
"Trav! We need to go to the hospital! The baby's coming!" I hear Taylor gasp through the pain. I jump up and run upstairs to Taylor. She's not due for another 2 weeks but the doctor's put her on bedrest because she was raising my blood pressure with anxiety and work related stress. I walk in and help Taylor off the bed. I lead her downstairs to the car and we start to drive to the hospital. We get there in a few minutes and I help her out. Taylor gets led to a private room in the back and doctors start taking her vitals and ensuring that the baby is healthy.
"Ok Taylor, we need you to push," The doctor says. Taylor shakes her head as tears start to fall. "Taylor, the baby's coming out, push."
"Tay baby, it's okay, you've got this, I'm right here," I say as Taylor starts to sob.
"She's getting herself too worked up. She's going to hurt herself or the baby or both, I need an emergency OR prepared for a c-section now," The doctor says rushing around.
"F-fine!" Taylor shouts, starting to push.
"No! Taylor, stop you're going to hurt the baby," The doctor says. We get led into an OR room and they carefully deliver the baby through Taylor's sobs of pain. As soon as the baby is born they take the little bundle to a separate room to make sure they are still healthy. "You have a baby girl, we are ensuring that she wasn't injured during the delivery but the c-section went smoothly after Taylor agreed." Taylor gets wheeled back to the original room to heal. A different doctor comes back with our baby and two charts.
"If you have a name, we can fill out the birth certificate, otherwise we will do that later. Your baby is pretty healthy, you just have to make sure as she grows older to keep an eye on her lungs, right now her lungs are pretty small and not the strongest. That may change over time but as for now and her early childhood, keep close attention to her," The second doctor says.
"It's my fault," Taylor says, her blue eyes glistening with tears as she looks up at me. "I'm sorry."
"It's not your fault Taylor, don't be sorry, our baby is still healthy, shhh, don't blame yourself, you couldn't have done anything. Tay baby, everything'll be ok, I'm right here for you," I say kneeling in front of Taylor as she buries her face in my shoulder. I turned back to the doctor.
"It's completely normal for parents, especially the mothers to think it to be their fault if something happened to their baby. Even if it isn't major," He says. I nodded and stood up after making sure Taylor was ok. I take the baby from the doctors' arms and the doctor leaves. "We will check on Taylor and the baby in about 30 minutes, the baby needs to go over a few more checks before being able to go home and we need to give Taylor some injections before leaving as well." I kneel back down to Taylor's level and we lay the baby on a small space of Taylor's bed.
"What do we want for a name?" I ask. Taylor shrugs.
"Chloe?" Taylor suggests.
"Mary?" I shoot back.
"Betty?"
"Sophia?"
"Daisy?" Taylor asks.
"Daisy Marjorie Kelce-Swift," I say.
"Marjorie?" Taylor asks, looking up at me. I look down at my beautiful girl and her blue eyes spill over with tears. "Trav, that's s-so meaningful you have no idea. How are you so perfect? I-I love you so much." The doctor comes back a while later and takes Daisy away. A third doctor walks in with a tray of injections. I see the panic on Taylor's face and I squeeze her hand and kneel down to her level.
"It'll be okay. I'm right here, squeeze my hand and take deep breaths, the shots will take away the pain," The doctor says as she fills two shots filled with medicine.
"Wait! If the medicine has opioids in it I can't take it, last time I had that medicine I coded and couldn't breathe," Taylor says. The doctor nods and puts the shot down.
"It's the same medicine, we sent you home with some pain relief pills but they have opioids in them too. If you return them to your pharmacy you can be refunded. There's not much we can do to stop your pain then," The doctor says. Taylor just silently nods. We get sent back home. Daisy, who is healthy, decided to stay with the hospital for two weeks to make sure her lungs either stay the same size, or get bigger and stronger, otherwise she's having surgery. Taylor and I get home and I help her out of the car before I remember that she's probably in some of the worst pain of her life. I help her inside and she collapses onto the couch clutching her abdomen.
"Hurts," Taylor whimpers as tears roll down her cheeks. I nod.
"I know sweetie come here," I say. Taylor scooches into my arms more as she lays her head in my lap. I gently stroke her hair hoping to create some comfort. She drifts into a light sleep but wakes up a little later and starts to cry.
"Everything hurts," Taylor whispers. I wiped away some tears that rolled down her cheeks and kissed her forehead.
"I'm so sorry baby, do you want some Advil or ibuprofen?" I ask. Taylor quietly nods and I reach over to the table next to me and take some. She takes the pill and cuddles closer to me. I place my hands over her abdomen and she melts into my arms. I gently run my hand across her stomach trying to relieve some pain.
"Thank you Travvy," Taylor whispers.
"Of course, I love you so much baby," I say.
"I love you even more."
