Glassheart: Auradon Taken Over

Part 26 - The Real Threat

Chloe pov:

We were all in Red's Dungeon again, and Evie found a hatch on the floor revealing branding rods. Red didn't tell me this, and the one Uma picked up was the same one on Red's neck.

Chloe: Is this what your mark was made from?

Red looks down before nodding.

Chloe: Why didn't you show me this?

Red: I sorta forgot about it, I haven't been branded in a decent bit. It just remembered it right now when Evie found it..... I was kinda hoping it would never be found, but it's too late for that.

Chloe: Is this the only one?

I say, gesturing her neck. The look on her face said it all. It wasn't. She shook her head side to side, avoiding eye contact.

Red: it's not....

Chloe: I'm sorry that happened to you. No one deserves that.

Red: You don't have to apologize. You didn't do it.

Chloe: and speaking of I didn't do it. I wanna help your scars from the guy who hit you with that whip earlier.

Red: No, I don't need your help.

Chloe: Don't make me do this the hard way.

Red scoffed as she raised an eyebrow.

Red: Are you really using my lines against me?

I cross my arms all smug.

Chloe: I am.

Red tried to walk away, but when I started talking, she turned back around to face me.

Chloe: You told me what happens when you do treat it immediately, remember? That is why it causes bad scarring, which I'm sure you have plenty of.

Red: You're very insistent there, Chloe.

Chloe: Please? Let me return tor favor?

Red stood there silent for a moment, probably thinking about something I wish I could hear. Her eyes made her look like she was a little hesitant. She let her shoulder drop.

Red: Fine but quickly. Let's go to my room.

We then leave the room as we walk to Red's room. Uma and the others stayed in the living room area. Once we got to Red's room, she turned to face me.

Red: Please don't overreact. I know what you're about to see, and I don't want you to make a big deal about it.

I took a deep breath in trying to process what she meant. I notice how softer she's spoken since arriving in Wonderland.

Chloe: I can't promise not to overreact, but I can promise to keep what I see to myself. Just having you willing to show me all of this about you is something I never thought I would ever see. I know we'll probably head back to Auradon tomorrow. But I'm quite happy with my stay in Wonderland.

Red then takes off her jacket before she lays on her stomach on her bed. I got the stuff from the suitcase and walked back over and sat on her bed.

Chloe: You give me permission to clean and bandage your wounds?

Red: Yes, Chloe.

I then lifted up her shirt, revealing her entire back that was covered in scars. Many didn't seem to have healed all too nicely. I guess that's what she meant when she insisted on cleaning mine. Poor girl probably didn't have anyone to do it for her. I just got lost in my thoughts as I saw every scar. I then not8ce the fresh ones from today. I then grab the cotton ball and disinfect it gently. That criminal was big and hit her pretty hard. Thankfully, I think her jacket took most of the impact, but there are still a few deep cuts. After that, I put on some cream as I gently traced the cuts. I could feel her breathing as her lungs filled with air.

Red: almost done?

Chloe: Just need to add some bandages first, and then you're all good to go.

After we were done, Red sat up on her bed.

Red: I got some business to deal with Maddox, but after I'm done with that, did you want to go back to Auradon?

Chloe: Yes, I really want us to do our project there with Audrey, the girl we're doing it on.

Red: ok, I'll be back in a few hours, hopefully. You can do whatever you want.

Red then gets up and leaves. I decided to go back downstairs and meet up with the girls. I sat on the couch next to Uma as Evie and Mal were sitting on the other sofa.

Mal: So how did that go.

Chloe: it went well. Well, I'll probably be going back to Auradon in a few hours.

There was a bit of an awkward silence that filled the room. Evie Dat up straight facing me.

Evie: I'm sorry about what we did at night and everything. You were totally right about everything you said.

Chloe: That's very nice of you to say, Evie, but it's Red. You should be saying that to. When we tried to go to Auradon and realized we were locked in..... Red got so angry, her eyes filled with anger, but also a lot of fear. She was more worried about me being locked in here than her even tho she said she wanted to go to Auradon to escape Wonderland.

Mal: How were we so blind. All 3 of us are vks, and we almost repeated our mistakes from the past.

Uma: Maybe because we haven't seen a locked up vk in years, sure was only like 5 years, but still. Everyone else we knew was from the Isle, and they have been free since.

Evie: Don't beat yourself up, Mal. You were just concerned about Chloe's safety.

Mal: Yeah, but it was because I saw Red as a threat when she wasn't the threat. Her mother is. I feel so stupid.

Chloe: I felt the same way, Mal. I saw her as my enemy when she was just misunderstood the entire time. She did so many good things I didn't even notice because I was blinded by anger from losing my mom. I know my mother is gone, and I know that Red regrets it. It's not fair to push this guilt onto someone forever, especially when no matter what she would have said, my mom still wouldn't be here.

Evie: It looks like your feelings for Red have changed.

Chloe: it's definitely has after this experience in Wonderland.

Evie: And in what way?

Chloe: Well, I remember when I called you, I had sorta feelings, but those feelings felt foggy almost. Now I'm still processing them, but they are less cloudy, so that's good.

Evie: So, will you still be her secret admirer? Or will you confess?

Chloe: I don't think I'm ready to confess yet since I still not fully 100% sure yet. I honestly don't care what we are as long as I can be the one to show her what life is all about. Most everything she claimed to be normal to her was mind-boggling to me. She acts like it is supposed to happen when it's really not.

A tear fell from my eyes.

Chloe: I just want to make her life better.

Evie: I'm sure you will Chloe.

Uma: Yeah, by the looks of it, you seem to have these privileges no one else has.

After talking a little more and me packign my things. Red came back from her meeting with Maddox.

Red: ready to go back to Auradon?

Chloe: Yep, we are all ready.
