Part 17 - I'm Here to Listen

Chloe pov:

Red ran out the door. After a moment, I took out my notebook. I started writing in it and noticed Evie, who stood up and sat beside me.

Evie: What are ya writing?

Chloe: Just everything she said and did.

I said as I'm still writing my eyes on my notebook.

Mal: Why? Isn't that creepy?

I looked up to Mal and looked at her right in the eye.

Chloe: I'm just trying to understand her. She also told me I don't listen very well, so I started to take notes.

Evie then looks at my notes and starts to read some out loud.

Evie: Keep acting like your mother. See how long you make it til your head’s in a guillotine.

Mal then gets up and reads another.

Mal: If you’re going to try and hurt me, maybe make sure your method works first, tazers don’t affect me anymore.

Uma then takes my book and skims through all the quotes I wrote down.

Uma: I am Princess Red of Wonderland, I’ve lived there my entire life and spent 16 years being raised by the Queen of Hearts. No one in Auradon knows what it’s like to live a day in my life. I never had a friend nor met anyone my age before I came here. I expected to go to school like a normal girl, but that’s not the case. I hope this life treats me better here than it did in Wonderland.

Evie: woah.... how do you keep up with her.

Chloe: I just started to write down everything, but I barely know what any of them mean because she's strangely vague.

Mal: Or you are just bad at knowing how a vk thinks.

Chloe: Show me what they mean then.

Mal: ok, let me look.

Mal skim through the quotes.

Mal: What's not to get? She's being quite clear to me from what I'm reading right here.

Chloe: How?

Mal: From what I'm reading.... she's got a soft spot for you.

Chloe: me? But she hates me.

Mal: Hmm, don't think someone who hates you would say such things as "I’m not letting you go til your wounds are healed to my liking." And "For your info. You are not the only one who’s suffering here."

Evie then faces me and places her hand on mine.

Evie: it looks to me that Red is practically crying for you to listen. She's telling you a lot.... most of these feel like arguments. Am I wrong?

Chloe: we do sorta fight a decent bit, yes.

Evie: Maybe you should try to just listen without fighting..... I think she just needs someone to listen.

Uma: And from the looks of it, she kinda cares about you to a certain degree cause if she really wanted to get rid of you, she would've done it in a heartbeat.

Evie: You should go find her, give it a chance..... see what happens.

They then gestured the door. I got up and left. I walked further and further into the woods. I then heard a noise and walked til I found Red sitting beside a tree.

Red: I knew you'd come to find me.

She then turns her head and looks at me.

Red: Why did you follow me?
