Joshua's breath was shallow, his mind racing, as he stood frozen, his face still in Jake's uncomfortably close grip. The studio around them felt distant, almost dreamlike, as if everything had narrowed down to just the two of them in a suffocating bubble. His heart was hammering in his chest, his pulse quickening with every second that Jake remained too close.
"Jake... please," Joshua whispered, his voice barely audible. He couldn't hide the panic in his eyes. "Stop. I don't want this."
Jake's grip on his face tightened, not in anger, but in an almost possessive way that made Joshua's skin crawl. The look in Jake's eyes had shifted from warm encouragement to something much colder, much more intense. He was focused, calm, like everything he was doing had a purpose-one that Joshua couldn't understand.
"I'm not doing anything to you that you don't want, Joshua," Jake said softly, his voice deceptively calm, like he was speaking to a child. "You're just overthinking this. You need to relax and let go."
Joshua's chest tightened with panic. He could feel the sharp sting of his own frustration, but he fought the tears that threatened to spill. "No... you don't understand. You're making me uncomfortable. You're crossing a line. I don't want this. Please stop."
Jake's eyes flickered, but his grip didn't loosen. There was a strange calmness to him now, a level of certainty that made Joshua's skin crawl. Jake leaned in just a fraction closer, his voice lower, yet still smooth.
"You're just stressed from practice. I know you're not used to the pressure, but you're safe here, Joshua. With me. Don't you want someone to take care of you? Don't you want someone who understands you?" His fingers shifted lightly against Joshua's cheek, almost tenderly, but it only made the discomfort in Joshua's gut grow.
"Please," Joshua pleaded again, his voice cracking. "You don't get it. This isn't right. You're making me feel trapped. You're not treating me like a person."
The silence between them stretched, thick and suffocating. Jake's gaze was still fixed on him, but there was something else now-a slight flicker of realization, like Jake was seeing Joshua's words for the first time. He stepped back just a little, releasing his grip, but there was no relief. The tension remained, still hanging in the air between them.
Joshua took a deep, shaky breath, trying to steady himself. He wasn't sure what would happen next, but he couldn't stand there any longer. He had to get away.
"Jake," Joshua said, his voice firmer now, even as his heart still raced. "I need to go. I don't want to be here with you right now. I need to go back to my group. They're waiting for me."
For a moment, Jake didn't respond, just stared at him with an unreadable expression. Joshua took a step back, his body trembling slightly as he clutched his phone tightly in his hand. Every part of him screamed to leave, to escape this suffocating situation.
Finally, Jake spoke. His voice was still smooth, but there was something colder in it now, a sharp edge beneath his words. "You'll get used to it, Joshua. Don't think you have a choice in this. You can't hide from me forever."
Joshua's heart skipped a beat at the threat hidden in Jake's tone. His stomach churned. But he didn't respond. He didn't need to. His instincts told him that getting out of this room was his only option.
Joshua quickly turned and walked toward the door. His breath was coming in short, shallow bursts, his chest tight with the weight of what had just happened. The moment his hand touched the door handle, he felt a strange relief-like the air outside could clear his head, if only for a moment.
He didn't wait for Jake to say anything else. He didn't dare.
The door slammed shut behind him as he exited the studio, his heart still racing, but now he was outside. The noise of the hallway, the distant sounds of his members in the other room, filled his ears, grounding him. But even as he tried to steady his breathing, the fear still lingered in his chest, twisting uncomfortably.
