Reena was wondering what was ticking in Rocky's brain. He was a man of spontaneous nature but this was truly odd. She knew for sure he wasn't the type of person to run away from his problems, then what else was the reason for this surprise trip.
Reena had packed a small bag with her belonging's ready to take on this trip. She remembered she left a few things in Rocky's room so she decided to go retrieve them.
"I bari knock madalu mareyadiri, illadiddare avanu mattondu Kitale rad'dhantavannu prarambhisuttane" she whispered to herself as she approached his room. A strange wave of nervousness washed over her.
(Dont forget to knock this time, or else he will start another teasing rant)
"Asadayakavagi avaru i samayadalli dharisuttare, devaru nanage saktiyannu niduttane" she braced herself, knocking on his door. Her feet tapped the ground beneath her rhythmically as she waited for a reply.
(Hopefully he is dressed this time, god give me the strength)
After a few seconds she heard a reply. She slowly opened the door and let out a sigh of relief when Rocky did in fact have a shirt on. He was facing away from her fiddling with something and she stood by the door.
"How can i help you Chinna?" he asked casually, looking at her over his shoulder.
"I left my hairbrush here, that's why i came to get it" she said, moving towards the dresser. Neither of them exchanged a word as Reena got her things and was about to walk out but abruptly stopped by the door.
"Nimage enadaru sahaya beke?" she asked and he shook his head. She nodded to herself, turning to walk away but something was holding her back.
(Do you need any help?)
She knew he needed help with something but he was to adamant to admit it. She sighed, placing the hairbrush on the table and walked over to Rocky who was by the bed.
"Chinna, i said i was fine-"
"Wait" Reena said sternly, standing in front of him. She looked up and saw Rocky staring at her, flustered. She grabbed his hands, bringing them to his side as she slowly helped him button his shirt.
Without her even realising, the distance between them got smaller and smaller until they were chest to chest. She put his blazer on him and helped him get his brace on. When she finished she finally looked at Rocky who gave her a small smile, a token of thanks.
"Adu noyisuttadeye?" she asked innocently and he shook his head scoffing. Saying so Reena lightly shoved his shoulder and he flinched back, wincing in pain.
(Does it hurt?)
"Nimma sullu" she said pouting and he smiled. Reena let out a laugh, her eyes glistening with happiness.
(Your lying)
"Nivu naguvaga nivu sundaravagi kanuttiri" he said genuinely and Reena stared at him, her gaze drawing him closer, drinking him in.
(You look beautiful when you smile)
"Your not lying are you?" she asked with a smirk and he chuckled shaking his head. Reena let out a laugh, her hand grazing his arm. The sound of laughter fluttered like butterflies in the room.
Rocky noticed her words seemed more relaxed now compared to when she was first here. She was able to talk to him with no tension. Rocky looked away, grabbing a file from the bed. Reena remained planted at her spot, almost as if she was stuck in a phase, her eyes never leaving from Rocky.
She admired the way he walked, his head held high, shoulders straight. His ability to always look so calm despite the storm that was brewing inside him. Rocky could feel her gaze burning into him.
"Idu tumba heccu, nimage saha. Nanu sundaravagiddare hage heli Chinna" he said teasingly and Reena looked away quickly, her cheeks firing red. Rocky smirked looking back, walking over to Reena.
(This is too much, even for you. If I'm handsome just say so Chinna)
"This is unfair Chinna, you look so cute when your shy" he said cupping her cheeks and she looked into his eyes a few seconds too long. Suddenly he winked breaking her from her daze and she smiled to herself, lightly pushing his arm and running off.
"Come quick, everyone is waiting for you" she said and ran down, leaving Rocky a mess by himself.
He could see it in the way her eyes lingered just a second longer than they used to, the way her laughter came unguarded and full when he spoke.
She used to keep a careful distance, but now she leaned in when he talked, her hand brushing his arm as if testing the waters of a newfound closeness.
Her once measured words grew softer, brimming with curiosity about him, joking together and being carefree.
It was in the quiet moments too, the way she smiled to herself when she thought he wasn't looking or how her gaze would dart away, cheeks faintly flushed, whenever their eyes met.
He could feel her walls gently crumbling, replaced by something warmer, something unspoken but undeniable.
And as he watched her navigate the delicate dance of falling, he couldn't help but wonder if she knew he was falling just as hard.
.......
"No" Rocky said walking down the stairs as Reena continued to pester him.
"Fine at least tell me where were going?" she asked and she shook his head indicating no. Reena huffed, stomping her feet.
They reached the entrance where Fatima ma was waiting with an arthi tray. She stared at Rocky, her eyes hesitant. She applied the tilak on Rocky and Reena and they were about to move when Reena held Fatima ma's hand.
Her eyes were soft and gentle and her touch held a promise. She would return with Rocky, that they wouldn't abandon all these people.
She smiled at Reena and moved to the side, letting them walk out. Rocky walked a little ahead of Reena, who watched all the people stare at them in a mixture of sadness and shock.
"Bhabhi we are going to miss you" the kids said and gifted her a handmade card that made her heart swell. She ruffled their hairs, pulling them all in for a hug.
"I am also going to miss you guys. But dont worry ill be back soon okay" Reena said with a gentle smile and they all giggled.
"We know, Bhai take care of Bhabhi on your honeymoon" one of the kids said to Rocky and Reena's eyes widened. Everyone burst out laughing and Reena looked back throwing daggers at Rocky, who looked away biting back a laugh.
"Hey who taught you all this nonsense?" Reena scoffed, lightly smacking the boys head.
"We saw in the movies, when lovers go on holiday together its called a honeymoon" they simply replied and Reena rolled her eyes.
"Maduveya nantara aste silly boy" Reena replied shaking her head in disbelief and the kids all nodded.
(That's all after marriage silly boy)
"Hagagi nanage avakasavide endu nivu heluttiri" Rocky asked teasingly as Reena never denied their honeymoon, only stated that people go on it after marriage. Reena looked back at Rocky, biting back a smile. Rocky smirked and she looked away, her face burning red and everyone began whistling and cheering.
(So your saying i have a chance)
"Oi oi looks like someone is in loveee" Farman sang and Reena scoffed running towards the chopper.
Reena got inside first, followed by Rocky. He popped his head out before they were about to leave and shouted to everyone who was watching.
"Ill take good care of her i promise" he said and waved to everyone as they ascended, ready to embark on this new yet mysterious journey.
