Her mom moved to the side, letting Reena walk in. The door shut behind her and she finally looked up, taking in the scene of the small one bedroom apartment her mother lived in.
Her mother held her hand, leading her to the sofa where they both sat across from each other. The tension in the air was thick and uneasy. Reena's mother was the first to break the silence, clearing her throat.
"Epadi irukkre maa. Ivalo maatham kalichu vaare" Her mother said, her voice laced in a subtle sadness that made Reena drown in a feeling of guilt.
(How are you dear. Your coming after so many months)
She swallowed the lump in her throat and reached over the table, placing her hand on her mothers knee. "Sorry mom, naanum velaiyoda busya vanthuten. Please purinjuko" Reena said softly and her mother sighed sadly nodding.
(Sorry mom, i have been so busy with work. Please understand)
"Okay you must have come for something important, what is it?" her mother said and Reena sighed, running a hand over her face.
"Come on ma, it isn't like that. I miss you na whatever i came to talk about can wait till after okay. Now tell me how are you?" Reena said getting up and sitting next to her mother, resting her head on her shoulder.
Reena's mother smiled to herself, running her hand through Reena's hair. "I should be asking you. How is everything. Work, your dad. Any boyfriend?" Her mother asked teasingly and Reena raised her head up, glaring playfully at her mother.
"Ma, stop it. Firstly work is alright, dad is fine and-" Reena paused, a slight blush creeping on her face that her mother noticed.
"Apo, Boyfriend irrukirar. Yaaru?" Her mother asked excitedly and Reena bit her lip, suppressing the smile on her face.
(So there is a boyfriend. Who?)
"Appadi ellam ondrum illai" Reena hushed but her mother shook her head, not believing one word.
(Its nothing like that)
"Your my daughter, i can tell when your lying and when you aren't" she said and Reena nibbled her bottom lip, staring at her mom.
"Okay but first let me get to what i wanted to talk about. Garuda is dead" Reena said and her mothers eyes widened, the air around her turning ice cold.
"What-how. When did this happen?" she asked desperately and Reena held her hand, giving it a small squeeze.
"Listen carefully, that isn't all. Actually the main thing i wanted to tell you is- Adheera is alive" Reena said, her voice hesitant and her mother's face dropped. The colour draining from her face. Reena rushed over, handing her a glass of water that she took with shaking hands.
"How-wasn't he suppose to be dead" her mother panted, sweat lining her forehead. Reena soothingly rubbed her back.
"He faked his death, just like i did. But a month ago he came back to take control of KGF again. He knows I'm alive. I spoke to him" Reena said and her mothers eyes widened as she stood up, knocking the glass on the floor.
"You spoke to him- paithiyum pudichuruka unnaku. Avar kitta poi pesirukre. Nee avarta ponnu-" she was cut of my Reena who looked down at her lap.
(Have you gone insane. You spoke to him. Does he know your his daughter)
"Theriyum. Ella unmayum theriyum. Now he want KGF for himself, but he isn't going to get it" Reena said confidently and her mom squinted her eyes.
(He does. He knows the whole truth)
