Chapter 18-guilty

"What's with all the commotion downstairs?" Vaishnavi asked, entering Reena's room. Reena lifted her eyes from her book, momentarily surprised at her sudden entry but quickly composed herself.

"Rocky left without telling anyone. He's gone to Bombay for a few days" Reena said calmly, returning her unwavering focus back to her book.

"If he didn't tell anyone, how do you know he went to Bombay?" Parvati asked and Reena simply shrugged, her eyes never leaving the page.

"Just a guess" she said and the two girls raised a brow, astonished by her confidence.

"Well since he isn't here, you have to come back to the office. Raghavan sir is dying to meet you and discuss things" Vaishnavi said and Reena let out along, exasperated breathe, her fingers rubbing small circles across her temple.

"Are you okay Reena, you look a little stressed?" Parvati asked placing a hand on her shoulder and Reena's eyes seemed to zone out, her focus fading away. "I'm okay" she whispered but it wasn't convincing.

The two girls gave her a look, raising a brow and Reena huffed, giving up. "Ever since Rocky made me a partner I'm swamped with files and documents and deals and this and that. Gosh even being a CBI officer is less stressful than this"

Reena whined, running an aching hand through her locks and her friends let out a small laugh. "Ithuke complain panna, Raniya vanthathukaporum evalo velai irrukum" Vaishnavi teased and Reena let out a small smile, her eyes glistening with joy.

The girls observed as her eyes flashed with a glow they hadn't ever noticed before. The subtle mention of Rocky completely changed her character.

It was as if his name was enough to set her heart on fire. Reena's eyes were dreamy as she just stared into space, completely ignoring her two friends who repeatedly called her name.

"Wait. I know this look. I've seen it in movies. This is a crush face!" Vaishnavi said excitedly gripping Parvati's arm.

"Oh my God, yes! This is a full-blown someone-stole-my-heart look! " Parvati squealed, her fist excitedly tapping the table. Reena snapped out her phase, flustered as she looked away.

"What? You're both ridiculous." Reena said, blushing profusely as she tried her best to sound as normal as possible.

"No, no, no, don't you dare lie to us." Vaishnavi said bouncing in her spot and Parvati nodded. Reena rolled her eyes shaking her head.

Parvati's eyes widened suddenly, a gasp bursting through the air. "Wait a minute. It's Rocky, isn't it?!"

Vaishnavi gasped even louder, a hand covering her mouth. "Rocky?! Oh my God, it is! Look at her face! Reena, you're in love with Rocky! This is amazing!"

Reena groaned, covering her face with her hands. "I'm not in love with him!"

"Oh, please! You've been glowing like a Diwali lamp every time he's around. And not to forget the way you smile every time we mention his name" Parvati said gleefully.

Reena hiding her blushy face between her hands mumbled. "Okay, fine! I like him. A little. Happy now?"

Vaishnavi squealed shaking Parvati. "She admitted it! Oh my God, this is the best day ever!"

Parvati leaned in closer, her elbows resting against Reena's desk. "So, when are you telling him? Because if you don't, I'm pretty sure I'll explode."

Reena glared at her but it soon turned into a smile. "You're both impossible. And no one is telling him, okay?"
