NATHAN

Since yesterday, I haven't been able to think about anything other than the kiss. The kiss that stole all my breath away and made me crazy. The kiss that left me wanting for more and more. I've done much more than kissing girls but this time, it was different. Just one kiss had me hooked.

But apparently, it didn't mean the same to Ellie. Just a few hours after our kiss, she was talking to Drake, as if nothing had happened between us to change her decision. What was the point of taking care of me the whole day if she is going to end up date Drake anyway? Why was she confusing me with all these mixed signals?

It was 6:15 when I received a text from Ellie saying she needed to work overtime today and I should leave without her. Shaking my head, I left my office and made my way towards hers to see if it was Drake's ploy to make her stay. Drake might be my friend but I knew what tips and tricks he used to get a girl to sleep with him. It was all fun and harmless until it was my wife on the receiving end.

As I reached her office, I saw her sitting on the desk, typing something aggressively on the laptop. Her floor was empty and Drake's office was also locked, indicating he had left and Ellie was alone.

"What's taking so long?" I asked, entering inside.

"I had a lot of work pending due to my leave yesterday." She said, not lifting her head. "You should go home."

"I can't leave you behind. Look outside, it's raining." I said and that's when she noticed the rain. "I'll wait."

"But what will you do?" She asked.

"I can help you finish early." I said and she looked like she was contemplating.

"It's complicated." She said and I stifled a laugh.

"It must be." I said and she frowned in return.

"Just because I'm not a CEO doesn't mean my work is easy." She said, huffing.

"Easy. I didn't even say anything." I said and sat down on the couch, looking outside through the window.

Ignoring me, she continued doing her work while typing as fast as she could. I smiled as I watched her nose scrunch up while she was focused on the screen. She was wearing a dark blue pencil skirt and a white blouse, her hair tied up in a ponytail. Her delicate neck was not covered with hair today and her collarbones were peeking out. She looked really delicate and feminine in this attire and it made me want her more.

"Hungry?" I asked as my stomach growled.

"There's a peanut bar in my bag." She said. Nodding, I peeked into her bag and chuckled when I saw the plethora of makeup and skincare products inside.

"What's so funny?" She asked, angling her neck and when she found me peeking into her bag, her face turned red. "I didn't allow you to look around. I might have some private things."

"We share a room. I have access to all your private things." I reminded her while munching on the bar. I handed over the other bar to her that she began eating without focus.

"By the way, your boyfriend sounds like a dick. He made you work overtime in this weather." I said in a passive aggressive tone and she turned her head towards me at this.

"For your information, Drake is not my boyfriend and secondly, he doesn't know I'm staying overtime to complete the work. Otherwise he would have stayed." She said in a condescending tone.

"Of course." I muttered under my breath. "Why would he leave the chance to be alone with you in a closed space?"

"What?" She asked, frowning.
