It was fun. It was fun, and it took the entire day, and I can't feel my hands, and she won't stop making fun of me because of how bad I blushed.
Freshly showered and in new night clothes, we sat back to back, her making art with colored pencils and me reading. The only sounds were the flipping of pages, the scratching on paper, and my playlist in the background.
“We should make one together,”She suggested.
“Why? Is mine that bad?”
“No. Mine is just better.”
Rolling my eyes, I let myself lean closer to her, still not looking up from my book. With her still working, we stayed there, not bothering and not needing to speak.
Hearing a knock on the door, we both called for her to come in. As she did I looked up while Y/N placed her head on my shoulder to do the same.
“Just came to say goodnight. I’ll be in my room if ya’ need me.”
“Alright. Sleep well.”
“Don't die in your sleep.”
“Will do. For both of them,”She promised before shutting the door, going to the other side of the house.
“Don't die in your sleep? What could possibly make you say that?”I questioned, meeting her eyes.
“It's good advice. Besides, I think it's a thoughtful way of telling someone you hope you'll see them in the morning.”
“That's terrifying. That sounds like a threat.”
“Shut up, and read your book,”She said, turning back around and keeping her back to mine.
“Shut up, and make your art.”
“You're a nerd. You know that?”
“I’m already very much aware.”
“Just making sure. You're not the smartest with social cues. Even if you're a book nerd.”
“That was years ago,”I defended.
“So you can read them now?”
“That is not important.”
“Seeing as your response to a question was something drinkable I’ll trust that's a no.”
“I love you,”I said in that same teasing tone I would use when I said I hate her.
“I love you too. Even though you're an awkward nerd.”
Rolling my eyes, I just picked up my book again, letting us both go back to our activities.

We were close again. Cuddled up under the sheets, my arms wrapped around her as she rested her head on my chest, looking up at me as I looked down at her. With nothing but a dim lightnight in the corner illuminating her pretty face, I let myself take in all her features.
“Texas is huge. It would take a few days at least to drive all of it.”
“Yeah. I know,”I agreed, already having thought about it so many times.
“So it never made sense. I mean do you know why?”
“Why they chose several states instead of one of the several cities or suburbs here?”
“Yeah.”
“I don't know. They wanted me to actually start over or something. I never wanted to listen.”
“I would have driven those few days straight through.”
“Or made someone else drive you.”
“Yeah. Maybe that too,”She shrugged.
“So are we telling anyone? About us?”
“Nah. I wanna see how long it takes for people to figure it out.”
“You know who would definitely know last?”
“Thomas. Absolutely Thomas.”
“Definitely Thomas.”
Letting out a small laugh, she reached her hand up, lightly running it through my hair.
“You look exactly what I thought you would,”She whispered.
“What do you mean?”
“I tried to draw what I thought you looked like on your birthdays. It got trickier in highschool. Mainly ‘cause I still wanted you to be shorter than me.”
“How’d that turn out for you?”
“I hate you.”
“Not how imagined then? Not what you were hoping?”
“Shut up, Aris.”
“Can't. You are stuck with me now. Every minute of the day and night.”
“I really have to start taking longer showers then,”She shrugged, her eyes showing a familiar glint of playfulness.
“So you can keep taking all the hot water?”
“You are so overdramatic.”
“I’m a lot of things, but dramatic is not one of them.”
“I've seen you cry when you stepped on a bug.”
“That spider probably had a family though. Its kids are all gonna starve, and it's all my fault.”
“Aris, it was a single spider that would have bitten you without a second thought.”
“That is not the important thing here.”
“Seeing as I spent an hour figuring out lies to make you stop crying on your kitchen floor, I think all of it is super important.”
“I was like six.”
“Yeah. Six and already overdramatic.”
“And you love me anyway,”I smiled, tracing shapes on her back.
“Trust me. I know.”
Pulling her closer, I kissed her forehead, pressing my lips to her skin for longer than needed.
We were also apart for longer than needed so that's okay.
