A/N: I'm sorry this is a shorter chapter, but I've been super busy with school and a promotion. However, I do have a super cute and long chapter coming up next :)

We were both shivering by the time we got home, our clothes already soaked. She, clearly insistent on sleeping in it, held my hoodie instead of wearing it, which I am being nonchalant about and in fact not jumping for joy inside. I'm completely relaxed and definitely not blushing at the knowledge.

“What a night, huh?”she yawned, mindlessly stripping from her wet shirt. Too tired to go anywhere, I did the same, carelessly tossing it on the floor as I found my other long sleeve pyjama set, the plaid black and white ones.

I can't believe I'm dressed like one of those lame dad's in movies whose kids are embarrassed by him in front of her. This is a humiliation ritual at this point.

To be fair, she wasn't supposed to be sleeping in the same bed. She just planned that too.

“I get two good sights today, huh? Lucky me,”she teased, letting out a quiet whistle.

“Are you done?”I huffed, tugging my shirt all the way down.

“Boo. I practiced abstinence for this?”

“Y/N-”
“May as well not even-”
“Keep it on! Pleeease? I like it better on you,”I whisper shouted, grabbing her hands that threatened to discard the blue fabric.

“I knew you were freaking out about that inside,”she grinned.

“I am-I'm not freaked out. I'm always this weird,”I defended, my eyes finally realizing how interesting the floor is.

“Look at me then.”

“No. No, I'm fine actually,”I promised, feeling the tips of my ears match my burning face. What traitors.

“You are weird. But I love weird, awkward you,”she promised, taking both of my freezing hands.

“And I love artsy, confident you. A lot.”

“It should be one more day. Paper says we'll finally get a decent temperature tomorrow. Enough to let ‘em horses out,”she remarked, her eyes scanning over the page. I managed a groggy nod as I ate my toast. Everyone was too tired to even bother with a real breakfast, though it was all for different reasons.

“And to let us out?”she yawned, rubbing her eyes.

“I don't know. Seems like y'all had enough of an outin' last night.”

The next bite stopped halfway to my mouth, my eyes going wide as I tried to find words. Her mouth opened once, then closed, like a fish suffocating in water. The deep, angry blush refused to left me unable to deny it, practically giving it away.

“I expected it of course. Y'all always had a habit of disappearing together. Or with your friends. And ya’ took your phones at least. But leave a note next time. I'd like to know where to find y'all if ya’ fall asleep in a field.”

“Yes ma'am.”
“That's doable.”

“Oh. And remember you're in Texas. Word spreads quick around here. And you'll have to put up with that fake southern niceness if you mess up.”

My brain essentially shut down as I was mostly sure my aunt just warned me not to end up a parent fresh out of high school. What the hell is going on today? Why would she let us shut the door if she knew something was up? And why is she giving Y/N a reason to tease me at seven in the morning?!

“Ya'll be good today. And look after Brutus,”she instructed, leaving the paper as she stood up. Pretending she didn't notice the way I was literally stuck in place, she left, her boots clattering against the wood.

When the door shut, closing with a click, she immediately burst into laughs, hitting the table as she was having way too much fun with this. Her reaction, while expected, was completely different from how I wanted the floor to swallow me whole. What is going on this morning?! Is everyone have a heatstroke?! Is something in the air?!

“Whyyyyy? What is my life?”I groaned, burying my face in my hands. What? Is? Happening?! I can't even-I don't even have any thoughts. I'm stuttering in my head. I'm going insane!

“This is wonderful. I love this morning,”she sighed, standing up to spin around. She was thriving in the chaos, along with my embarrassment.

“This isn't happening, this cannot be happening,”I denied, running a hand through my hair.

“My life is wonderful. My will to live has gone up,”she continued, letting out a deep sigh.

“Why would she leave me alone with you after doing that?”

“I shall remind you of this morning every day.”

“Everybody is against me.”

“I have been given a gift.”

I'm not being dramatic. In fact, I'm reacting in the only sane way anyone could. My aunt just told me to think twice about love-making with my secret girlfriend. I think.

“I'm gonna go get last night's lake off of me, but you take in the wise words of our elders,”she sighed, kissing the top of my head before skipping away, on absolute cloud nine about my humiliation.

Sighing, I rubbed my forehead as I sat up. While I was internally dying, my eyes scanned over to the paper that was just put down.

Wow. The answer to all my problems really do just fall into my hands sometimes.
