“Are you actually tolerant of the bike yet?”

I gave her a shrug she couldn't see as I unwrapped myself from her waist to get off. The second she had too, leaning it against a tree, I was back around her, resting my chin on her shoulder as I wrapped my arms around her stomach.

“What a friendly hug,”She deadpanned, grabbing my hands that rested on her waist.

“If you want it to be,”I said simply.

“You’re not being subtle. You know that, right?”She checked.

“The point was just that we don’t have to make an announcement. Remember?”I reminded her. Still, we both knew it had become much, much more. It was a game now. A test of ‘how long until someone notices this isn’t platonic?’ With how it’s going though, long looks and  sneaky kisses out in the open, I’m convinced that either everyone already knows or the only way they’d realize is for us to scream it from the rooftops.

As a bonus, there’s something so exhilarating about having to wait to see how she’s mine, to have to make sure the door’s shut before I get to explain how much I love her.

“You planning on joining the others anytime soon, or are you just going to stand here and hug me all day?”

“I was hoping for the second one.”

“Whelp, too bad,”She shrugged, pulling my arms from around her as she was already walking out of the woods. Standing there for a moment, I watched her ponytail sway behind her as her hands were in her front pockets. Just like that, all I could remember was how I run my hands through her hair as hers hold me close, something that happens so often but never enough, and in different ways.

As she said a loud, “hey,” to the others, I finally trailed behind her, doing the same as I was met with Thomas and Teresa standing significantly closer than most people do, holding pinkies. Despite my obvious happiness at seeing them, I held back a groan that I couldn't do the same. It's so unfair that I’m restricted by the rules that nobody is making me do. What a tragedy.

“Anyways, I’m starving,”Thomas announced.

“You're always hungry,”Y/N pointed out.

“I am not,”He insisted.

“Oh no, you're definitely always hungry,”Teresa promised.

“Wow. My own girlfriend’s against me. It's a good thing I have my other lover to back me up,”He drew out, staring into the depths of my soul as he let go of Teresa's hand to grab mine against my will.

“Thomas, I can not even begin to explain how not romantic we are.”

“Nonsense. We’re a perfect match,”He kept up the bit, throwing an arm around my shoulder. I just sighed, letting him play married couple while wondering if this was just the only way he knew how to ask for a hug. I mean it's Thomas so probably.

“Yeah. Sure,”I gave in, patting his shoulder.

“You can have him,”Teresa agreed way too easily. Y/N stood beside her, subtly shaking her head in disagreement. I know she's a romantic, but I would have never guessed possessive.

“Anyways, we ready?”Thomas eagerly reminded us, patting my cheek.

“Yes. We’ll get you your burger,”I promised, ruffling his hair the way everybody thinks they’ll die if they don't do to me. As he made his way back to his actual lover, Y/N trailed behind them, standing next to me as I was just a few feet behind. Without a word, she grabbed my hand, tightly holding on while standing so close our shoulders brushed together at every step.
