"I think everyone around you is going to end up with diabetes at this point."
"A little treat now and then won't kill anyone."
I don't know about that. I'm currently decorating a small chocolate cake, because Thomas likes chocolate and icing. Don't get me wrong. The sentiment is great. I'm just not sure an entire small pie or a dozen cookies every two weeks is really the best idea for anyone's physical health.
"Right. A little treat."
This much sugar can't possibly have a good endgame. Unfortunately, I swear it's addictive.
"Aren't you talented?"she teased, looking over my shoulder.
"Everyone likes stars,"I mumbled, feeling my face flush. While that is technically true, I don't think my kindergarten fingerpainting is really what anyone has in mind when they say that. Even sizes are not my forte apparently since none of them match. The only thing that did was the background sky that was a blue that ended up way too bright.
It was in fact not her night sky that she claimed was twinning with mine. Small white dots, a crescent moon on the side, and a comet of course because why not.
"Well, these ones are very nice. And you're not eating the materials this time. That's improvement,"she pointed out. As if to prove her words, she pressed a small kiss to my shoulder before walking away. Turning around, I admired the way she opened the fridge, moving things around. With her hair out of her face and my hoodie replaced with a baggy shirt (the curse of the oven heat), she was prepared for way too long in here. We had a playlist on though, and that means we have everything we need.
"I can't believe you hosed me down like a dog,"I reminded her.
"You looked like you needed it,"she shrugged, walking past me with the milk in hand. Before she could just leave me humiliated and love-starved, I wrapped my arms around her waist, pulling her into me before she could object.
"Aris?"she sighed as I was pressing kisses to the top of her head.
"Yeah?"
"There's still cake to make."
"They'll be fine. They can bake themselves,"I assured her.
"I'm pretty sure they haven't evolved to that yet?"
"It's okay. They told me so,"I assured her.
"Right. Why don't we repeat that to a psychologist?"
"I can't do that. They'd steal my discovery,"I pointed out.
"Oh, of course. I can't believe I forgot about that,"she affirmed, leaning against my chest. Resting my chin on her shoulder, I breathed in the scent of the kitchen. She was sweet warm memories that I would look for every time life felt like too much. Never again will a spatula just be a spatula. I'll see her in every meal I eat, no matter where from, in every sugary snack I buy, in every fruit aisle that was consistently needed.
"I love you too,"she promised, easily pulling out of my hold when needed. I could only watch helplessly as she went back to her work, leaving me completely abandoned and alone.
"I'm so unloved,"I whined, leaning against the counter.
"Mhm."
"My own girlfriend doesn't even care about me,"I sighed, putting a hand to my broken heart.
"I can't change your mind."
"Ugh. Y/N, come on. I'm devastated over here,"I reminded her.
"You can't fool me with my own tricks,"she said simply, already mixing another flavor. Scoffing at the way she clearly hates me, I crossed my arms over my chest. Proving my theory that she actually wants to throw me out a window, she rolled her eyes at me.
