WELCOME, (L/N) (Y/N)
BOTH (Y/N) and Muzan stared each other down in a tense silence, the hostility in the air practically tangible by then. What was worse, (Y/N) knew that the only reason he hadn't killed her yet was because he knew he could do so at any time. Instead, he was just waiting—toying with her, more like—to see what she would do."You weren't one of those Demon Slayers the first time we met," Muzan finally uttered after several seconds of silence, surprising (Y/N).
"No," she answered stiffly.
"You were pathetically weak at the time," he continued, his eyes now roving over her uniform and sword as if disgusted. "I offered you a chance to become a demon to fix that, and you squandered that by becoming a Demon Slayer? Perhaps it would have been better to have killed you then."
"Perhaps," she frowned, keeping her form stiff. "But you didn't."
"To show you how useless it is for you humans," Muzan uttered with a dark undertone to his voice, his eyes narrowing to slits. "It is the natural law that demons are inherently superior to humans, so why you've refused me once is absurd. Now... I ask you once again: will you assimilate my blood and become a demon, or will you die?"
"You know what I'll choose."
"Siding with the enemy to incur my wrath even more?" Muzan scoffed. "How fatuous."
"Well, maybe I just like pissing you off," she muttered, flinching when instead of reacting negatively, Muzan's lips curved upwards into a rather sadistic smile.
"Your way of speaking is strange, human," he uttered, his red eyes flashing as he took a step closer to her. "I believe it's one of the things I will not miss about you. Then again, what use is there to ever missing a human? You all are so pathetically fleeting that it's laughable how you fight so hard."
"So, what now?" She questioned, swallowing thickly with the mounting pressure of the moment. "You gonna try and kill me?"
Muzan didn't move.
He didn't like this human, he was sure of that, but that didn't mean he wanted to dispose of her.
He was unsure.
Such a thing never happened.
He knew himself as a being that was as close to perfection as something could; a being that held eternal youth, immortality, power, wealth, and loyal soldiers, something that hadn't changed for a millennia. And now there he was hesitating over some strange human who was a walking contradiction—she looked to be afraid of him, yet at the same time, looked to be staring through his very soul as if she knew everything about him.
It irked him.
Well...
Maybe I should just observe her for longer.
