(Y/N) could feel her breathing turning ragged, her vision going blurry, and her muscles burning with each and every move that she made. She wasn't sure how long she had been fighting, but with every single second, she felt closer to death's door than she had in a long time.
"You're slowing down, (L/N)(Y/N)," Kokushibo uttered as he unleashed another attack of swinging crescent blades that drew her blood with each slash. "You will die."
"Me? Slowing down?" She gave a dry chuckle even as she struggled to move. "Can't be..."
Kokushibo's brow twitched at that.
He had seen Demon Slayers like her—those who acted so selflessly despite their fear and their weaknesses. Then again, what was different was how there was no vehemence, no anger, no hatred. Instead, when he looked into her eyes, all he saw was a type of sadness that wasn't directed towards herself for facing him, but instead towards him. It was the oddest part about the Demon Slayer known as (Y/N), and the more he observed, the more he felt as if she could see right through him. Kokushibo wondered what was going through her head, his interest piquing the more this tantalizing thought wandered around his mind.
He watched as (Y/N) slightly widened her stance, making a line in the dirt as she did so.
"So... you're going to resume fighting?" Kokushibo questioned her with a frown, the tip of his sword purposefully dragging on the ground with every step that he made. "Even though you'll die?"
"I already told you my answer," (Y/N) panted softly. "Must I keep repeating myself?"
"I suppose not," he murmured, staring at her.
It was so odd to him.
So odd.
Yet, at the same time, he couldn't help but admire that exact oddity about her.
