"SO, how're we gonna do this?" (Y/N) asked with a somewhat excited smile as she walked with Obanai through the small town, her head practically on a swivel from how much she turned to capture everything within her gaze. "What information have you procured so far? Eating specificities? Location preferences? What're we working with?"

Obanai flicked his eyes towards her, somewhat surprised by both her eagerness and her aptitude for the logistics.

It was almost refreshing, in a sense.

This was stranger to him still, as never before had he been comfortable enough to stand beside a woman other than Mitsuri. This extended to even Shinobu, a fellow Hashira whom he worked with. So, the fact that he was able to walk beside (Y/N) and even be somewhat swayed by her mindfulness was quite shocking in and of itself. Then again, it was slightly soothing to not feel disgusted chills crawling up his arms every few seconds, nor have his mind be darkened by his sinful past.

With his straying thoughts, he quickly shook his head to rid himself of such distractions.

"Iguro-san?" (Y/N) questioned.

"...this demon particularly favors children, and sticks to the dense city center where those children are more prone to being lost," Obanai finally answered without missing a beat, not commenting on the prolonged silence that had stretched between them. "We'll start with the alleys."

"Understood," she nodded.

The two then parted ways to begin exploring the town for additional clues that could aid them in their mission. (Y/N) made quick work of scouring the area whilst also making sure to question the residents about any of the disappearances with strange aspects that stood out to them. She was quite interested in a story one of the old women she had spoken to told her about—the story of a haunted building that lured in children due to its tales of intrigue.

A haunted building, huh?

That's probably the demon's hiding spot.

I'll scope it out and see if it's worth investigating before alerting Obanai.

Settling on that course of action, (Y/N) followed the old woman's directions to where the supposed 'haunted' building lie. Unsurprisingly, when she stopped, it was in front of a decrepit structure with boarded up windows and scrawling vines over the brickwork. Glancing around, she could see that the housing and other businesses weren't faring much better either, leading her to assume that this was the poorer district of the town that didn't receive the regular hustle and bustle of the city center.

Hm...

This definitely seems like the kind of place a demon would be drawn to.

Yeah...
