Sixteen
Finnick🌊
My breath was taken away as soon as I saw her. She looked like a goddess sent down from heaven just from me. She walked towards me, our eyes connected and I couldn't look away. She had no makeup on and yet she was the most gorgeous woman I had ever seen. Her body was covered in red. Her skin looked tinted red as it shone under the lights. The red material hugged her waist and thighs as it fell down to her ankles, showing every curve of her body. And I had to push down the image in my head of running my fingers over those covers. From her waist a trail of red material fell behind her as she looked like a queen.
"We need to talk." She said standing in front of me. Her eyes flitted around, looking around for any listening ears and I wanted nothing more than her eyes to stay on me. "Where?" I said, moving around a little trying to get her to look at me. When she finally did look at me, my heart stopped and I was immediately lost in the depths of her brown eyes.
She held onto my wrist, pulling me along until we reached a broom closet. She opened the door, pushing me inside. She closed the door behind her before she looked up at me and I swear I stopped breathing again for a second. "I need to know if you're accepting Haymitch's offer." She said and I had shake myself out of my thoughts and try to think of an answer. "I," I breathed in a sigh and something in the way she looked at me solidified my answer. "I am." I said as she sighed in relief. "Tonight, after he wants to meet all of us on the roof. He has some instructions." She said, sounding a little annoyed. "Okay." I said, still sounding dazed.
She took my hand. "I need you to promise me something Finn." She said and I shook my head for her to continue. "You won't put her life above yours." She said and I was about to interject when she started talking again. "I made Keith and Jo promise too. I can't loose you guys. No matter what the cause." She said looking away and I held her face in my hands, making her look at me.
"You are not going to lose me. Under any conditions." I said as tears slipped out of her eyes. She hugged me, burring her face into my chest. "I can't do this. I'm not strong enough. Not again." She said as I ran my fingers through her open hair. I shushed her but yet allowed her to cry into the cardigan Mags had knitted me.
"I have given enough. I can't lose you guys too." She weeped and I let her, petting her head. "I can't lose you." She whispered and my heart broke. A delicate knock sounded and I froze until Pixie's voice sounded through. "Kam, we have to go get ready." She said as Kamari pulled away from me. I held her face again, wiping her tear tracks away.
"I have to go." She said and I responded that I knew. "This feels nice." I said and I couldn't control my eyes from moving down to her lips. My Kamari. My last chance to tell her how I really feel. How I have felt all these years.
"I'm gonna miss you." She whispered, tugging on the ruby encrusted gold band around her wrist, clasping it onto mine. "We'll see each other again, right?" She asked and something in me broke and before I could restrain myself, my lips crashed against hers. And I waited for her to push me away, to slap me, to never talk to me again but I knew I had to do it. At least once. At least one last time. Surprise and relief filled me as she kissed me back, pulling me closer.
We stayed there for God knows how much longer cause as soon as I had her in my arms, time ceased to exist. She pulled away after an eternity that still wasn't enough. "I have to go." And with that, she was gone, the way I had imagined her millions of times before. The only proof of her existing, my tingling lips and the ajar door.
