Mark asked for a few days off. His boss was surprised but couldn't say no as it was the first time the journalist ever asked such a thing.

"Thank you so much for understanding," Mark said and after a few minutes, he ended the call.

Tossing his phone on the back seat, Mark locked his eyes at the entrance of the building. Since he had no idea about the finishing time of Donghyuck's exam, he wanted to catch the human entering the building, to know the beginning. Then he would only have to wait two hours for him to come out.

Mark wanted to pick him up and bring him somewhere nice so that everything that happened yesterday would be cleared up. Donghyuck needed help and Mark chose the wrong approach. He had to redo it.

He spotted Donghyuck entering the building around 11 AM. Mark spent an hour on social media and then observed every student leaving the building, expecting to see the blood boy. He spotted many different humans leaving, but had to wait at least half an hour to see Donghyuck.

Mark honked to get his attention. He succeeded as Donghyuck, just like other students, looked at where the sound was coming from. Either he didn't recognize the car or rushed somewhere because he looked away and headed his own way.

The vampire turned on the engine and caught up with Donghyuck. Even when he rolled the window down, Donghyuck didn't even spare a glance. Realizing that Donghyuck might not know that it was him, Mark cleared his throat and addressed the human by his name.

Donghyuck stopped walking and faced the car. He looked annoyed. He was aware that it was Mark. He complimented his car before... He knew how it looked.

"What?" he said with a cold timbre in his voice.

"Are you in a rush?"

"No."

Donghyuck walked away but didn't go that far as Mark caught up with him again. Matching the human's walking pace, he rode next to him.

"Then are you up to grab something to eat?"

"I have work, Mark hyung."

"Oh..."

Mark knew Donghyuck was lying, but he didn't want to expose himself to knowing this. You see, since the last time Donghyuck wasn't at work when he should've been, this morning, the vampire went to the pizzeria to ask about the part-timer. People told him he was taking a break because of his exams.

This means he wasn't working there for some time, and he had no reason to be there. So, he was lying. Why, though?

"Okay, that's fine," Mark chuckled. "Do you want me to pick you up after work then?"

Donghyuck scoffed and looked over his shoulder, "Why?"

"It's late," Mark shrugged his shoulders. "You're unwell."

"You don't have to pick me up. It's not like we're dating or something," Donghyuck let out a forced laugh.

Mark felt uneasy, hearing this.

"Yes," Mark said slowly. "But that doesn't mean that I can't help you. I want to assist you. Isn't that what friends do?"

"Are we even friends?"

"Aren't we? We help each other."

There was something obviously wrong with Donghyuck's body language and behavior. Mark could tell that the human wanted to be left alone.

"Maybe," Donghyuck said, surprising Mark as his voice sounded quite bright. "But that doesn't change the fact that I have somewhere to go," he added and then turned to a narrower street.
