After all the work was done and he used his fridge reserves, Mark dressed rather nicely, did his hair, and tried to get a fair shave. He kept remembering Donghyuck's comments about his poor shaving skills and hoped that once they became a couple, that problem would be solved.
He dressed quite simply. He pulled a simple T-shirt over his head and put on jeans. He already knew where he was taking his human, so he had written the dress code a few minutes ago: loose and comfortable, no pressure.
When he was completely ready, he left the house and got into his car, driving down the road towards Donghyuck's apartment. On the way, he planned what to say because he knew that if he messed up, he wouldn't be able to erase a human's memory. Some unknown forces didn't allow it. But as soon as he reached the street he was already familiar with, he was surprised to find Donghyuck waiting for him outside. All the phrases left his mind and he chose to improvise.
The human was looking at the phone screen, but when he heard a car approaching, he raised his head and was soon smiling.
"Good evening," Mark greeted and got out of the car, then wheeled around it and opened the door for the human like a gentleman.
"Oh, what a pleasant surprise," Donghyuck giggled and got inside the car.
Mark closed the door and soon returned to his seat as well. At the edge of his tongue, he had a question. He wanted to ask the human how his other date went, but realizing it would sound weird, he kept quiet.
"So, where are we heading?"
"I found a nice place to spend our time..."
"Which is?"
"My place."
"Okay," Donghyuck said, but his tone exposed his surprise. "It's valid. You've been to my room many times."
"You've been to my house twice too," Mark chuckled, then became concerned. "Is it really okay? We can go to a restaurant if you want, but I thought a closed space is more... suitable."
"It's fine. There's no point in going to a restaurant as I'll be the only one eating."
"I'll eat a few things too. Just for you."
"If you want..."
Mark was nervous. For the first time, he was damn nervous. When you've been a vampire since birth, you learn that there is barely anything you couldn't do. If something doesn't go your way, just use your powers. But at that time, Mark couldn't use them. He wanted to treat Donghyuck like an equal and maybe this part was the hardest. Because vampires and humans were never equal.
But the nervousness he felt made him feel like a human. Usually, humans are nervous when they come on dates, right? He glanced at Donghyuck, learning that even when the latter smiled, he was also nervous. So, at least right there, they were pretty much the same.
"Here it is," Mark said awkwardly as he parked his car near his house.
"You have a house," Donghyuck sounded surprised but then frowned as he most likely recalled he had been there before.
The feeling must've intensified as Mark took him inside. Removing his sneakers, the human kept looking around until he chuckled, perhaps, realizing that this place was the first time he had gotten bite marks as well as Night Amnesia.
"You can go and— shit!"
Mark thought that by the time he took Donghyuck here, they'd be alone. But he felt his brother's vampiric energy around, which moved closer once he heard the door.
"Oh, hello," Taeyong smiled, coming out of the kitchen. "You must be Donghyuck."
"Yeah, that's him," Mark said, covering the human with his back. "How many more minutes until it's finished?"
