- Weeks later -
Enrico
"I knew I never made a mistake trusting you, Mr. Ignacio. A deal is always a good deal with you," our recent client, Mr. Chien said.
I flashed a modest smile as I slightly bowed my head for receiving such a comment coming from one of the greats in the business industry.
"Mr. Chien, it's always an honor getting to work with you on projects, and now, even more on this partnership," I returned the praise to him.
"You flatter me too much, Enrico. Anyway, I was hoping to see both you and your wife at this meeting. How is she?"
I supressed a smile upon my wife being mentioned. "She's uhm...she's on a venture abroad. It'll be a few weeks before she comes back, and I probably would be joining her in a few days," I answered.
The truth is, Cari and I agreed to keep the baby in private, so as to not disclose her identity too much to the public, as well as to business figures. We want to keep the baby's life as peaceful as we can, and if that meant keeping her from the public's eye from the beginning, then so be it.
So Cari isn't actually abroad. That was just my excuse so they won't ask any more questions. She's resting at home, doing minimal work to avoid stress for her and the baby.
"Oh! Too bad. I wanted to see you both together today. For some reason, your team up with Mrs. Ignacio is really an impeccable one. You're a great pair," he commented.
"Thank you, Mr. Chien. Soon, I'll bring her to one of our meetings."
Cari, you really can't deny your chemistry with me.

I was in the middle of signing some paperworks, when my phone suddenly rang.
Without looking, I picked up the phone and answered it.
"Hello?"
["Sir, si Ma'am po, kanina pa po nagrereklamo na sumasakit daw po 'yung tiyan niya."]
I immediately was alarmed because of what I heard, and without missing a beat, I got up from my seat and ran towards the door.
Didn't even realize how late it was until I looked at the time on my wrist watch. I got so busy with the paperworks.
"How is she? Nasaan kayo?"
In no time, I reached the elevator and I quickly pressed the button to bring me to the basement parking.
["Nandito po kami sa kwarto. Ayaw po niyang magpadala sa ospital hangga't wala daw po kayo."]
Cari...as much as I love that, I would love it more if you and the baby are safe at the hospital.
"Alright. Monitor her, and I'll be there in 10 minutes," I instructed our staff.
It's already late, so traffic wasn't in the equation, making it easier for me to drive.
Damn it, I've never been this tensed before. I'm sweating even though the AC is turned up.
I know that she and the baby are healthy, as per our last check up with her gyne, but I don't know why I'm so anxious at times like these.
Okay, to be honest, Cari has been complaining about frequent contractions lately, and it's treatable, but this time sounds different. I feel like she's in so much pain.
I reached the house in a few minutes, and by the time I got to our room, Cari was sitting on the bed, holding her stomach and rubbing it in a circular motion.
