Carisia
The melancholy feeling has been bugging me knowing that tomorrow, we'll be back in the city. To be honest, I could live the next few months of my pregnancy here by the beach, but we can't because of our commitments and jobs.
Sometimes, the sound of the waves is the only thing that can drown out every single thought in my head, which is why I always crave for its peace and calmness.
"Cari?" I heard my husband's voice from the bedroom doorway so I peeked my head out of the bathroom door.
"Yes?"
"Dinner's ready," he informed, so I put up my palm as a signal for him to wait.
I unclasped my hair from the hair clamp, letting it flow freely down my back, then I checked myself one last time on the mirror before leaving the bathroom.
Enrico was still waiting for me by the doorway, and by the time I was just a few inches away from him, he reached out his hand while staring at mine.
"When did you become so clingy?" I asked, puzzled but amused.
He rolled his eyes. "Just hold it, Carisia, before I change my mind," he said.
I obliged, and with my permission, he clasped our hands tight.
We headed downstairs, but while I was trying to walk to the side of the dining room, Enrico kept pulling me to the opposite side where the living room and the main door is located.
Confused with his actions, I decided to speak. "I thought we're having dinner?"
He shut his eyes, like how he does when he's losing patience. "Just come with me. Don't ask any more questions," he commanded with authority so I just let him take me where he wants to, like I'm being washed away by the ocean waves to who knows where.
I figured that our walk is leading us to the shore because of the path that we're taking.
From the pathway, I looked up to the sky and I audibly gasped when I witnessed probably one of the best sunsets I have seen in this property.
The cotton candy sky with hues of pink, purple and sky blue is reflecting off of the ocean water, making the view look majestic as if it was straight from a fairytale book.
My amazement with the view was replaced with surprise when my eyes averted their gaze to a beautifully-lit table setting on the sand, like a dinner date for two.
"What's this? A date?" I uttered in utmost surprise.
He let go of my hand, and not long after, I felt his arm snaking around my waist. I turned my head to the side to look at him, but he was in his usual blank expression.
"I don't know what kind of set up you like, so I asked for help to put all of this together," he said in a low voice.
"It's perfect..." I whispered underneath my breath while staring at his face.
The corner of his lips curled into a small, subtle smile before he led me to the table filled with delicious dishes.
I don't know how to fully react to this because this is the very first time in the timeline of our marriage that he did this, but I know I should be grateful.
As we both sat down, the lit candles reflected off of our faces, resulting in a magical glow that I have only seen in movies.
"Is this a date?" I asked again, just for the sake of my sanity.
"Whatever you wanna call it," he replied without even laying his eyes on me.
He began serving food on my plate, and I just watched him in wonder. Wonder as to why he's doing this, and why he's been doing the things he had done towards me the past weeks and months.
Honestly, his actions towards me for the past months has been one of the reasons why I have a smile on my face everyday.
To me, it all feels new because we hated each other. It's no secret that we're in a marriage without a proper relationship, and it works in a civil way, but lately, it's becoming different.
Somehow, because of the baby, we've been able to patch our rocky start.
"Eat, before it gets cold," Enrico's voice pulled me out from my deep thoughts, then he pointed at my plate full of servings of the dishes laid out in front of us.

After finishing our meal, we remained seated, just enjoying the serene ambience of the place.
I noticed Enrico trying to look busy with his phone so I called his attention, and he was quick to focus his attention on me.
"Thank you for the dinner. The baby and I are full," I told him.
"That's good. I had everything prepared according to your taste," he said.
Napansin ko nga. Almost every dish served was a part of my cravings lately. It's like he's got a list of my cravings somewhere, or maybe he got them memorized in his head?
"Let's go back? Mahamog na," he said, then he got up, making his way to my side of the table to assist me.
He's being such a gentleman, and I can't help falling for that.
Yes, who am I fooling? The more he's being subtly affectionate, the more I can't help that strange feeling to grow bigger everyday.
With his help, I managed to find my balance on the unstable, sandy floor.
We were about to walk away but I didn't want the dinner to end with his efforts going unnoticed, so I mustered up the courage to pull him in for a kiss as I threw my arms around his neck.
He was startled with my sudden action, that he needed to hold on to my waist for stability.
I closed my eyes as I let my emotions take over, bringing me deeper and deeper.
The feeling of his soft lips against mine isn't new, but the sweetness that it came with now, was definitely something that I haven't had before.
I was running out of breath so I tried breaking away to gasp for air, but I was only able to do it for a split second before he claimed my lips one more time, this time much passionate than what I initiated.
My hands around his neck slid down his shoulders as I tried to grasp something solid so I can ground myself.
That kiss felt like it lasted for an eternity, until our lips parted, making me realize how much I wanted more.
Our eyes were locked on each other, as if nothing else around us mattered except us two.
The feeling of satisfaction and excitement spread across my chest while staring at the man who causes my smiles and headaches every single day.
"Are we gonna walk back? Or do I have to carry you like a bride?" he bantered, still with a cold expression.
"Do what pleases you," I answered.
He turned his head away, so I couldn't see his face, but when he turned his face back, his lips made its way back to mine as if they were magnets strongly attracted to one another.
I swear, I can't get enough of him because why do our kisses feel so much sweeter this time?
Why do they make me feel much secure?
I don't know how love feels like with him, but if it's this feeling that I'm having now, then I'm doomed.
