I caught up with SkyBird and Connor. I was running as fast as I could while they flew. “You sure you don’t want us to grab you and fly?” SkyBird asked, feeling guilty for still being able to fly.
“I’m fine SkyBird. I want to be independent,” I replied as I ran even faster.
“You know you’re really fast at running,” Connor noticed.
“Yeah. You never were this fast,” SkyBird added.
“I don’t know. Maybe it’s an adrenaline thing,” I suggested. SkyBird and Connor shrugged as we all got as far away from the facility as we could. Once we were far enough we all sat down to rest.
“Ow!” I yelped as I held my mouth.
“What’s wrong?!” SkyBird asked as she and Connor both looked at me.
“I bit my tongue and it really, really hurt,” I replied.
“Let’s see,” Connor said wanting to just make sure everything was alright.
“Okay,” I said as I opened my mouth. SkyBird’s eyes went wide as Connor smiled big. “What is it guys?” I asked as I closed my mouth.
“Uh...you tell her,” SkyBird said to Connor.
“No. You’re her sister, so you should tell her. Not me!” Connor replied. My eye twitched as my curiosity skyrocketed.
“Just tell me what’s going on!” I yelled angrily.
“Okay. I’ll say it,” Connor said putting his hands up, “um...have you ever had sharp teeth?” Connor asked as gently as he could.
“Yeah I have. I usually have to dull them down a bit. Why?” I asked, my eyebrows raising in question.
“Well your teeth are like really sharp,” Connor replied backing away from being punched.
“How sharp?” I asked. I wanted to know how sharp.
“Really, really, really sharp,” Connor said putting two fingers over his mouth like a walrus.
“More like dog sharp or shark sharp?” I asked.
“More like pirana, vampire sharp!” Connor said as he pretended to be a vampire.
“So I have vampire teeth?” I asked, wanting it to be confirmed.
“Yeah!” Connor said with excitement.
“I think it might be a new mutation,” SkyBird said as she thunked Connor on the forehead.
“OW!” Connor said as he rubbed his forehead.
“Cool. So now I can bite Dr. Xander to death,” I joked. SkyBird laughed.
“Yeah you can be like, I’m a vampire and I kill you!” Connor laughed. SkyBird and I both rolled our eyes as we laughed. That would be pretty funny.
“Wait,” I finally said after I finally stopped myself from laughing to death.
“What?” SkyBird said through laughs.
“How did I get a new mutation?” I asked trying to think of how I would have gotten vampire teeth in the beginning.
“I don’t know,” SkyBird said as she realized the concern.
“On the bright side. At least you don’t sparkle like Edward in Twilight,” Connor said with a shrug. SkyBird and I started laughing again.
“Yeah cause if I did people would mistake me for the tooth fairy,” I laughed.
“I guess that’s a good thing then,” SkyBird replied with a smile.
“Um...I think I know how I got the teeth,” I finally said as we all settled down.
“Then tell us,” SkyBird said as she and Connor listened.
“Dr. Xander and I got into a fight and he threw some syringes at me. I got like a bunch of them in my skin. I think one of them might have caused this,” I replied.
“Then that’s bad! What about the other syringes?!” SkyBird shrieked in horror.
“We’ll figure it out. Let’s just get some sleep,” I said calming her down. I needed to sleep on it. Everything was happening so fast. It was hard to keep up with it all.
