We were only 1.5 miles away from the White House. So far SkyBird was in the lead, while Connor and I followed behind. SkyBird was fast because of the wolf in her. I’m pretty sure I had a bit of wolf in me except it wasn’t really noticeable. I was a pretty fast runner though. At least faster than Connor. All I know is if a bear were chasing us Connor would have been eaten first. Too bad for the bear that we can fly though, so I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t be dinner.

“There it is!” SkyBird called out as she pointed to the White House in the distance. And to our luck the president was outside doing one of his speeches to the public.

We ended up having to push and shove people in the crowd just to get to the front. There were guards that looked to be either from the FBI or army. Connor was slowly sneaking under a rope that separated the crowd from the president.

“Connor DON’T!” I whispered harshly. I should have saved my breath though cause he ignored me and got a gun pointed at him. The guards kicked us out and away from the speech.

“Great going Connor!” SkyBird said with disappointment in her tone. Connor hung his head low, feeling guilty.

“I know this sounds crazy, but if they won’t listen to normal teenagers wonder if they’ll listen to avians,” I replied with determination. The president needed to know what was going on at all costs. Even if that meant I got shot by one of the guards in doing so.

We all stretched our wings and set our sights on our target. The president. Not in a bad way but in a good way target. We just needed to pass information to him. It’s not like we’re murderers or anything.

We flew fast towards the speech. SkyBird on the right, Connor on the left, and myself in the middle. For some reason I felt like the leader. I didn’t mind the role but I felt guilty because of it. I felt that SkyBird and or Connor might want the role too. “Oh my God!” a woman screamed as we flew. Others were gasping, taking photos, shouting, yelling, screaming, and even cursing, and saying that we were the Devil’s children.

I know it may seem like a surprise to most to see flying children, but I mean come on. You don’t need to go as far as calling us demons and that sort. We’re just like everyone else, except we’re a bit more “advanced” I guess. It’s not like we could’ve changed anything. It was our fate since birth. We were made for this.

“Look out!” SkyBird shouted as the guards pointed their guns at us and began shooting. Seriously?! Ugh...I’m really starting to become pissed off at humans. They can be such morons and irrational at times. I’m kinda starting to love that I’m not a human. Maybe it’s a good thing to not be normal. To not be human after all.

“Stop shooting!” I shouted as I dived down and skidded to a stop. I had made a perfect landing. SkyBird then swooped and twirled through the gun fires to my side. Her landing was graceful as ever. Connor did a few 360s and even did a back flip before he landed. Very entertaining if I do say so myself.

“KILL THEM! THEY AREN’T HUMANS! THEY ARE DEMONS!” a man shouted at the top of lungs. SkyBird looked sad and hurt, while Connor looked angry as he folded his arms over his chest. I was steaming with anger, hate, fury, but mostly sadness. How sad it was that humans couldn’t understand or chose not to understand non-humans.

“We’re not demons, the Devil’s children, or people from the future. We are not human though either. We are angels. We believe and know that God exists. In fact he’s the one who gave us our wings in the first place. He was the one who made us non-human. We were sent here with a cryptic message. Actually a warning. A war will begin in December. A war between humans and non-humans. You must all prepare for the war before your species is wiped out for good. A man by the name of Dr. Xander is the head of this war. He plans to take control of the world once every human is killed. Dr. Xander has also been kidnapping and killing children who are non-human. All three of us are survivors and escapees of his evil plans. He has facilities that keep these children in captivity all over the country. No. All around the world. He is the leader of an organization called AWTOK. This is what we wanted to tell you all,” I finally managed to say.

“We’re on TV,” Connor said tapping SkyBird and I on the shoulder then pointing out the cameraman that had been recording us the whole time. SkyBird was waving at the camera, Connor was making funny yet stupid enough faces. I smacked myself in the face. What a group we were.

“Look at me!” Connor said to the cameraman with a goofy voice.

“I think we need more flock members,” I said to myself. I honestly didn’t care if they were human or not. We needed people to help us plan our attacks on each AWTOK facility. We needed people that could track down AWTOK and keep us posted on there whereabouts. We needed people to help us.

“Can we get out of here?” SkyBird asked as she saw the guards glaring at all of us angrily.

“Sure,” I said grabbing Connor by the hood, “Let’s go.” We walked over the rope and away from all the people. Thank God SkyBird was smart, but Connor not so much. Oh well. He was a member of the family and it would stay that way. We had to stick together. I know I may sound paranoid, but I swear it feels like everyone is out to get us, and I mean everyone.
