⚜️ forty four ⚜️

•Avalanche•

We found Ruis, laid unconscious on the thick snow with a kitten snuggled beside her. I felt my blood rush to my head in both dread and fury upon seeing my wife in such a state. The maids and the assigned butler who were behind me initiated a cry for help as I crouched and carefully inspected whether she had injuries or what. I heaved disappointedly about this unfortunate matter as I only left her alone for a very short time. My wife is  such a curious mind and based on how I see things around here, she probably tried to get down in this slippery stair or ramp and completely lost her balance. Seeing the kitten, I already know the reason behind it. In such a careful way, I lifted Ruis in my arms...but proceeded to the entrance on the ground floor instead of using the ramp or stairs to the belvedere of the room...

"Your highness,"

I was approached by the physician I tasked earlier who was luckily going to be around until the results of what I ordered them to do is done. As though my wife didn't weigh anything, I walked up the grand stairs back to her room, followed by the royal physician and two of nurses who were always assisting the superb doctor.

"Don't forget to care for the kitten. She might look for it when she wakes up."

I ordered the servants before disappearing behind the huge doors of Ruis' newly renovated room.

The doctor took time inspecting Ruis' condition as I sat at the single corner sofa, watching them. So far, she only had minor injuries like a small bruise on her hip and was at the brink of hypothermia despite the warmth of the morning sun amidst Plyos covered in snow. Ruis is a summer baby and pretty much sensitive to cold unlike me who can strongly tolerate the harshness of Winters, born in September; an Autumn soul. The female physician gently patted my wife's arm as she remained asleep. She looked at me and smiled;

"Your highness, her majesty will be okay... I'll just have to wait for the blood test before I can administer any pain relievers-as you ordered."

I gave her a nod, while I silently observed my sleeping wife. Until the doctor received a call from the lab and was able to hear the results. On her tab, she was meticulously checking everything as she and the person on the other line spoke. She excused herself with a bow before exiting the room.

I rose from my seat and paced across the well-lit room and sat on the bed beside her...

Feeling highly strung...

On the outside, I may look like the usually composed royal that I was known for. But deep inside I developed a sense of consternation when it comes to my wife. Something I tried so hard to fix yet after all what happened to us, I couldn't really shake it off my system. I don't fear anything...

Even my own death.

If there's only one thing I fear most, is losing my wife and my son.

Nothing more.

A knock on the door caught my attention. Although it was slightly ajar, indicating that they are allowed to come in, the doctor still politely bothered to let me know her presence.

"Come in."

I said, now eager to hear more of what she has to say about my wife's condition.
