Wednesday's POV:
"Merry Christmas, darling." I softly mumbled, while turning over to wrap my arms around her. Placing my chin on her shoulder.
"Merry Christmas." she replied, her eyes still closed.
"Do you think they'll let us go home today?" I questioned, slowly glancing over at Evelyn.
"No, not after what happened last night." she replied, as she placed her hand over the one I have on her waist.
Last night Evelyn... I guess you could say she died.
It's not as bad as it sounds, I promise. Since she can't eat or drink by herself and her muscles are still pretty weak, she's having a hard time retaining nutrients. Which lead to her dropping weight that she didn't need to drop. Evelyn on a good day weighs 26 pounds, and she's 2 feet 2 inches tall. I suppose she gets her lack of length from me, and her build from both Enid and I. We are both pretty skinny, and relatively below average for both weight and height. In this case, it isn't a good thing.
Since she isn't gaining enough nutrients to support her body, she developed a heart murmur. She was dead for 3 minutes before she was brought back to life. Those were the worst three minutes of my life...
"Definitely not," I muttered, before sighing.
I miss my bed, my nice shower, my typewriter, and most of all I miss my daughter. It not like she's a million miles away, its that shes not herself. There's no giggles, no smiles, no asking to go play at the park, no smell of pancakes each morning, and no Friday movie nights. I liked our routine, it was peaceful. I thought we were finally going to get a break, I guess not.
Evelyn's POV:
My tummy hurts... they fed me a bunch of food this morning and none of it was even good. I asked mama if we could get pancakes and the doctor said no, he said I wouldn't be able to eat them, or.. digest them? I don't know what that means, and I don't understand what's going on. One moment I feel fine, then the next I'm dead. Literally.
I just want to go home, and play at the park with Auntie Yoko...
Enid's POV:
I walked back into the hospital room, bags of wrapped gifts occupying both of my hands, and both of Pugsley's hands. He decided to come down to visit, especially after he heard about what happened.
"Hey honey, how're you feeling?" I asked, while placing the bags on the floor.
"Better," She mumbled, as she slowly sat up in the bed.
She does look better, a lot better at that.
"That's great, where's mommy?"
"Using the potty,"
"Guess who came to see you!" Pugsley exclaimed, before popping out from behind the corner.
"Hi Pugsley," she said, while weakly giggling.
"Hey Evie," he said, as he walked over to the other side of her bed.
"Hello Pugsley," Wednesday muttered, while walking out of the bathroom.
"Hey Sis," Pugsley replied, mocking Wednesday's depressing tone.
"Welcome back, darling." she said, ignoring Pugsley's tone.
"Hello, baby."
"What's all this?"
"Presents, some from us and some from your parents." I answered, as I wrapped my arm around her waist.
"I thought we were gonna wait until we went home to open presents."
"Well these aren't all of them, and I thought it would be nice for Pugsley to be able to watch her open the gifts from him." she just nodded, before pulling me in for a kiss.
"Ugh get a room, I'm too innocent for this!" Pugsley exclaimed, making Evelyn laugh.
"You're not innocent Pugsley," I commented, while giggling.
"And you should be used to this by now, I mean you do still live with mother and father."
"Yeah... You're both right." he slowly said, as he nervously laughed.
"Mommy, what do you mean by innocent?"
"Nothing mi hija." Wednesday softly replied, a small smile spreading across her lips.
"Who's ready to open presents!?"I asked, making Evelyn smile.
"I am!"
