One Month Later
Wednesday's POV:
"Mommy!" Evelyn exclaimed, while running up to me.
"Yes Mi hija?" I questioned, as I spun my chair around to face her.
I may be working, but I'll always make time for her. Besides, I'm way ahead with my writing as it is. I realistically don't even need to be working right now.
"When your done can we pleaseeeee go to the park?" She asked, while jutting out her bottom lip.
"Did you pick up your room?"
"Yes, and I fed Goldie." Ah yes, Goldie. The golden retriever Enid and Evelyn both begged me for once we got home from the hospital. The one I couldn't resist saying yes too once I saw how much Evelyn wanted her.
"Then I suppose we can, but only for a bit. I have to be back to help your mother with dinner." I replied, making her face light up.
We've been home from the hospital for around a month now, Evelyn still has days when she complains of chest pain, or has a slight cough. But other than that it's like nothing even happened. We of course had to explain to her that she would never see Yoko and Divina again. We didn't tell her how they both died though, it would scar her for life if we did. Even I'm a bit shaken up after being the one that found Yoko.
We've decided to take ownership over their house. Pugsley and Eugene moved in a week ago, I still find it odd that they ended up together, but I'm not upset. And I'm not the one to judge. I mean look at my wife, she's the last person I thought I would end up with, but I wouldn't want it any other way.
Enid's POV:
I grabbed a bowl from the cabinet next to my head, before turning around to fill the measuring cup up with water.
I was pouring the water into the bowl when the I heard the front door swing open, and a pair of keys being thrown into the bowl in the entry way.
"We're back mama!" Evelyn exclaimed, while running towards the kitchen.
"Shoes Evie!" Wednesday yelled, before the child could place her muddy shoes on the white tile.
"Sorry Mommy," Evie replied, as she ran back over to the door to put her shoes in her cubby.
"It's fine, angel." she mumbled, while messing with the ends of Evelyn s hair. "Why don't you go find something to watch, so I can go help with dinner."
"Okay!" she answered, as she skipped off somewhere.
"Hello Cara Mia,"
"Hi love,"
"What can I help with?"
"Uhm, could you lay out the chicken? Put it in hot water, so it thaws out quicker." I replied, while tucking a stand of hair behind her ear.
She nodded, her cheeks tinted pink.
"What are you making?" She asked, once the sink was filled with water. Breaking the silence in the room.
"Chicken Alfredo." Normally Wednesday cooks dinner, it's not that I can't cook. It's just that she enjoys cooking, and I enjoy watching her cook. But every once and a while I'll plan out something nice to make, and surprise Wednesday with a break. Although she still insists on helping me, she considers it as her getting a break from cooking.
"We saw Ruby at the park."
"Who's Ruby?" I questioned, as I turned to look at her.
"The little girl Evelyn met at the park when we were at Nevermore for the reunion." I completely forgot that girl existed...
"Oh, is she as good as Yoko made her out to be?" The first few weeks after the incident it was hard to even say her name out loud, but it's better now. I know I'll eventually see her again, and at least she's not hurting anymore.
"I'd say so, she has impeccable manners, and is pretty smart. Obviously not as smart as Evie, but that's expected for most children."
"Wow, if Wednesday Addams can tolerate her then she must be great." I joked, making her smirk.
"Evelyn definitely enjoys playing with her, it was very....heartwarming and odd to say the least to see how much they have in common."
"Now I want to meet this kid," I said, as I walked over to Wednesday. Her back is leaned up against the counter, leaving her in a perfect position for what I've been waiting for all day.
Once she noticed me walking over to her, she reached out her arms and pulled me into her. This has now become a daily thing, we both need it after all the shit we've been through.
"You okay?" she softly asked, as one of her hands made its way to the back of my head.
"Mhm, just needed a hug." she slowly nodded her head, before placing her chin on my shoulder.
"Do you want me to finish dinner?"
"No i-i got it-"
"Enid."
"Yes?"
"Do you want me to finish dinner?" she asked again, why does she have to be this perfect!?
"Please,"
"Okay, why don't you go take a minute and then when you come down we can start making some brownies while the water for the noodles is boiling." I nodded, as I pulled away from the hug. Whipping the bottom of my nose.
I don't know what just came over me, one minute I was fine, the next I felt like crying.... Sounds like its time for my period! Yay....
