The next few months of school went by rather quickly. In those months, not a single peep was heard from Callaghan. You eventually relaxed and put your guard down, assuming he wasn't going to send one of his creations to you.
In those months, you befriended Tadashi. At first, you felt like you needed to get closer to him in case Callaghan decided to make some surprise attack, but soon, friendliness just came naturally. Some of the girls didn't like you because you got so much attention from guys, but in all honesty, you just had guy friends.
You didn't know that those were your last months in San Fransokyo.
And what sucked was that you were actually happy that day until you found out Tadashi basically ruined everything for you.
"(Y/N), (Y/N), are you awake?" Allen poked your arm with his fork.
"Y-yeah." You were doodling on your math homework, which you were supposed to finish.
"You and Tadashi-san are kind of quiet today," Emil said, confusion flickering in his pale eyes. "Is something wrong?"
Allen waggled his eyebrows. "Or maybe they're-"
You punched him in the arm, silencing him. "Be quiet."
Tadashi looked up from his book. "Oh, I'm just reading."
"You haven't turned a page in ten minutes," Allen said, rubbing his shoulder. "Something's obviously on your mind."
"It's nothing," Tadashi assured him. "I'm fine." He quickly turned the page.
"You haven't eaten a bite of your lunch, either," Emil said. He sounded concerned. "There's only a few minutes of lunch left."
Tadashi smiled sheepishly. "I'm not hungry. Please, don't worry about me."
You narrowed your eyes. Something was definitely up. "Don't tell me you failed a test and you're stressing-"
Allen scoffed. "He's smart; why would he fail a test?"
"I guess you're right." You went back to your doodling.
Emil and Allen stared at you as if they were expecting you to come up with an answer, but you didn't say a word.
"I told you guys, it's nothing," Tadashi said, waving a hand dismissively.

"Are you going to walk home, (Y/N)-chan?" Emil asked.
"I always do. My house isn't far." You watched the buses leave the parking lot, and a stream of students heading towards the cars at the curb.
"Okay. See you later!" Emil hurried off towards the cars, and Allen headed for the buses. You turned and began walking down the school entrance steps.
"(Y/N)!" a voice called. You turned to see Tadashi running down the steps.
You blinked. "What is it?"
Tadashi just lifted a hand in farewell. "See you later." He paused. "Oh, and (Y/N). . . please don't get mad at me."
You furrowed your eyebrows. "What do you mean? Why would I get mad at. . . " Your voice trailed off as he rushed past you for the parking lot.

The door opened noiselessly as you peeked into the house. It was quiet. You looked down to see your father's and mother's shoes. They're home?
"Mom? Dad?" you called.
The familiar voice of your mother called back, "In the kitchen! We need to talk to you."
