After you told them about (F/N), they stared at you with shock. "W-wow, (Y/N), that must have been hard," Hiro said. "My brother arranged your move?"
You nodded. "But now that Callaghan is dead, I can move back to San Fransokyo, right?" It doesn't feel right though.
"No, there's something wrong," (O/Y/N) piped up. She fiddled with her thumbs. "Hiro and I talked about it, but we didn't question anything yet." She faced the busy street, watching streams of vehicles honk noisily. "Callaghan's name wasn't removed from the SFIT website. It still says he's a professor."
"Maybe it's just a mistake," you pointed out.
"But everyone knows about his disappearance. They would have changed to due to respect. We didn't even find his body after he fell into the bay, too," (O/Y/N) protested.
You blinked at her. "Wait. . . didn't you say Tadashi was wearing those armor super suits?"
Hiro brightened slightly despite the mysterious atmosphere. "Yeah! They're super cool and have a lot of powers-"
"Then how did Callaghan shoot him? He should have been protected."
(O/Y/N) and Hiro's jaws dropped open. "I never thought of that," Hiro murmured.
"Something's wrong," (O/Y/N) fretted.
Your mind was spinning. Callaghan. . . could he be alive. No way. . . "I'm going to find out what happened," you decided. "(O/Y/N), give me more details on your dad."
(O/Y/N) was silent for a moment. "Well, he's really rich. Not to brag or anything. He left for the East Coast when I was a little younger, and I remember Callaghan having some sort of grudge against my dad because he wanted money. But that didn't make sense, since they were supposed to be best friends." Her voice got quiet. "The professor also killed my biological mother."
Hiro patted her shoulder. "Go on," he encouraged.
"My father hired Mitsuo - that's the guy we told you about - to protect him, and once he died, he said he would protect me," (O/Y/N) finished. "That's all I can think of right now."
Something clicked in your mind. Childhood friends. . . money. . . grudges. . . "What did he need the money for?"
"He has a daughter," Hiro said. "Maybe he needs it for her."
Thoughts swirled in your mind. Wasn't Callaghan also the founder of the Elite Bot Builders? And if you could remember correctly, he started his job at SFIT right after. Maybe he didn't get enough money being a bot builder. . . An idea hit you like a bolt of lightning.
"(O/Y/N), when did your dad leave for the East Coast, again?" you demanded.
She fidgeted. "It's a long time ago, I don't remember. Maybe when I was around ten?"
Your hands tightened into fists. There was definitely more to this. "I need to talk to this Mitsuo guy."
"What? How are you going to get there?" Hiro sputtered. "It's been so long! And he has an island to run! What if he's dead? I don't even think anyone knows how to get there because they live in secrecy-"
You grinned. "A robot took you there, right?"
"Well, yeah - no way."
"Yes, way. That robot should have the location saved in its memory chip," you said.
"That robot also has a name - Baymax. Tadashi made him to heal people," Hiro replied.
You scoffed. "So that Band-Aid chucker was good for something, huh? Anyway, you don't mind, right? I need to talk to Mitsuo about the job (O/Y/N)'s dad gave him. Maybe Callaghan's not dead. Maybe Tadashi's not dead!"
"It's a mystery," (O/Y/N) said, her (E/C) eyes shining.
"But it's dangerous," Hiro said.
"You threw us into a battle before," (O/Y/N) said. "We're just going to talk, Hiro!" She turned to you. "You might also want to talk to Michiko, Dad's. . . um, wife. She moved to a city near Hoshi's. My stepsister."
You took out the notepad you kept in your apron pocket. "First, we need to visit Mistuo's island," you said, scribbling it down. "We'll get there on Band-Aid ch- I mean Baymax. Next, we'll get to Michiko and maybe Hoshi. Lastly, San Fransokyo. Sound good?"
"If my brother is still alive. . . " Hiro murmured. "Okay. Let's do it."
