"Saan ka? Di kita makita!", I told the person I was talking on the other line.
"Nasa Bay 6 ako, ikaw ba saan? Hindi din kita makita dito eh!", he answered.
"Nasa Bay 2 po kase ako. Anlayo mo.", I laughed. "Sige, lalakad na lang ako papunta jan."
"Okay, will meet you half way, Bee."
I walked towards Bay 6 of NAIA Terminal 3 Arrival Area. It has been two years since I left the country to study abroad. New Xealand to be exact.
After I played out my UAAP playing years, I qualified for a scholarship at one of the most prestigious schools in NZ, the University of Auckland. It was a masteral degree that was offered to me, so I wasted no time and accepted the offer.
Though I wanted to be drafted for PSL under Coach Ramil's team, hindi na nangyari yun because I already left. I thought it was a good idea to take a break first and leave the bad things happen for the meantime. When I was in NZ, I was free. Free to do things I wanted to do without any paparazzi shots, hahaha. At nakapagpahinga rin ako sa bashing, issues and volleyball. Well, sa pag-aaral most definitely hindi, but everything was worth it.
For straight to years, I didnt come home. Sina Mama ang pumupunta sa akin to visit me, especially pag may occassion like birthday, christmas, New Year or may achievements akong nakukuha sa school, so parang kagaya lang din ng dati na nasa Bulacan sila, nasa Manila ako.
I kept in touch with my friends pa rin naman. There were skype, facebook, twitter, IG and facetime, so hindi pa din naman ako huli sa mga ganap dito sa Pinas.
Kim and Ara were already playing in Cignal HD team in PSL and Shakey's VLeague together with our former Lasallian teammates. Biro nga nila sa akin, ako na lang daw ang kulang at kompleto na ang Season 74 starting six ni Coach Ramil.
"Bee!", I heard someone shouted. He ran towards me and gathered me in his chest. "I missed you."
"I missed you, too, Josh!", as I hugged back. Yes, it was Joshua Torralba.
"Lalong ka pong gumanda.", he praised me.
"Kailan ba ko pumanget kasi?", I replied and he wrapped his hand over my shoulder and the other one pushed the cart of my baggage.
"Sabagay,", and we both laughed, "Kamusta ang byahe?"
"Okay naman, medo nakakapagod lang."
"Naku, pano ba yan, mamayang gabi ka pa makakapagpahinga?"
"Okay lang noh! Basta ba ipanalo mo yung game one later eh."
"I can assure you that, Madam!"
"Yabang!", and he opened the passenger side of his car, put my baggage in the car's compartment and ran to the other side. "Diretso na tayo sa MOA Arena ha?", and I just nodded. "I assumed you're already hungry so I grabbed something for you earlier.", he grabbed something at the back seat and gave it to me.
"JABBEEE!!!!!", I shouted. Oh, God, how I missed Jollibee, alam naman natin na walang Jobee sa NZ, di ba? Two years din akong drought sa lasa ng favorite kong yum burger! "Thank you."
"Glad to make you a happy kid.", and he smiled, "Tara na baka sabunin na ako ni Coach Juno eh. And the people you want to see are already at the venue, excitedly waiting for you, Cutie."
"And so am I, Pogi!", he started the engine of the car and it roared for life.
After nearly 30 minutes of travel, we arrived at Moa and we parked at one of the vacant spaces there, near the Arena's entrance. Joshua walked me to my parents and friends who were as excited as me.
