-----------------moving to a new apartment was always a bittersweet experience for you.
the thrill of a fresh start, mixed with the inevitable pang of unfamiliarity.
boxes still littered your living room floor, and the solitude of the new space made every creak and groan of the old building echo loudly.
you had only moved in a few days ago and hadn't even met any of your neighbours.
but today, your nerves were tested in an entirely different way.
you had spotted it on the wall by the kitchen counter - a spider, large (maybe it wasn't that large, but it was big enough to make you freeze in your place) and looming. its long legs stretched out as if mocking you, and your heart pounded in your chest.
you tried to muster up the courage to deal with it, but the thought of getting anywhere near it made you shiver.
after pacing for what felt like an eternity, an idea struck you. maybe one of your neighbours could help? you didn't relish the idea of bothering someone you didn't know, but desperation overrode your hesitation.
gathering your nerves, you walked to the nearest door, the one just beside yours, and knocked timidly.
you fidgeted, rehearsing what you would say in your mind, when the door swung open, and all thoughts evaporated instantly.
the man standing before you was, in a word, gorgeous. tousled black hair framed a face that seemed to be sculpted by the gods.
his sharp eyes glinted with curiosity, and a small, teasing smile played on his lips. he was wearing a simple grey t-shirt and sweatpants, yet he looked effortlessly perfect.
"hi," he said, his voice smooth and warm.
you blinked, utterly starstruck, before stumbling over your words. "uh... hi. I-I'm sorry to bother you, but... uh..."
his eyebrow arched slightly, his smile widening as he waited patiently.
"there's a spider," you blurted out finally, your face heating up in embarrassment. "in my apartment. and I'm, uh, not great with spiders. could you maybe-"
he let out a soft chuckle, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "you want me to come and be your spider assassin?"
you nodded quickly, thankful that he wasn't brushing you off or judging you too harshly.
"alright," he said, stepping out into the hallway. "lead the way."
you led him into your apartment, still painfully aware of how messy everything was from the move.
he didn't seem to mind, though; his gaze flitted briefly over the boxes before landing on the spider in question.
"ah, there it is," he said, grabbing a tissue from the counter. in one swift motion, the spider was gone, and you let out a sigh of relief.
"thank you so much," you said, finally starting to relax.
"no problem," he replied, turning back to you with that same charming smile. "I guess you owe me now."
you tilted your head, confused. "owe you?"
"yeah," he said, leaning casually against the counter. "maybe you could invite me over for coffee sometime. you know, as a thank-you."
your cheeks flushed, and you could barely suppress a smile. "I think I can manage that."
he pushed off the counter, walking toward the door, but paused before leaving. "by the way, I'm minho," he said, his tone smooth but playful. "I live next door, so don't be a stranger. who knows? maybe I'll come rescue you again sometime."
you laughed softly, the tension melting away as his words lingered in the air, and you introduced yourself as well. "and I'll try not to make a habit of needing rescuing."
minho smirked. "no promises. I wouldn't mind being the hero again."
with that, he gave you a small wave and disappeared into the hallway, leaving you standing there with a racing heart and a grin you couldn't wipe off your face.
as the days passed, you found yourself looking for excuses to see minho again.
you bumped into him in the hallway a few times, each encounter filled with playful banter and lingering smiles.
it wasn't long before that promised coffee date became a reality, and soon, what started as a chance encounter over a spider turned into something much more.
perhaps moving to this apartment wasn't so bad after all.
