it was a dreary, rainy afternoon when you woke up in bed feeling like your body had been completely drained of energy.

your limbs were heavy, your stomach churned, and the dull ache in your lower abdomen had escalated into something almost unbearable.

waves of nausea rolled over you, making it hard to even lift your head off the pillow.

the worst part? it was only the second day of your period - the day that always hit you the hardest.

you groaned softly, curling into a ball as the cramps stabbed relentlessly at your lower stomach.

the blanket felt like it weighed a ton, and your skin was overly sensitive to even the faintest brush of fabric.

lightheaded and exhausted, you shut your eyes tightly, trying to will the discomfort away.

the sound of footsteps approached your room, followed by a soft knock. the door creaked open, revealing hyunjin, his eyes immediately filling with concern when he saw you.

"hey, baby," he said gently, stepping closer. his voice was like a warm blanket in the middle of a storm. "why didn't you tell me you weren't feeling well?"

you managed a weak smile, though it felt more like a grimace. "didn't want to bother you... thought I could sleep it off."

hyunjin sighed and sat on the edge of the bed, brushing a few strands of hair from your face. "you could never bother me, hun. you look miserable." his eyes softened, and his thumb traced soothing circles on your cheek. "I've got you, okay? let me take care of you."

before you could protest, he leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to your forehead. "stay right here. I'll be back in a second."

he returned a few minutes later with a heating pad, a bottle of water, and some medicine in hand.

he set everything down on the nightstand and helped you sit up, his arm wrapped securely around your waist to steady you.

"here, sweetheart, take these," he said, handing you the medicine and a glass of water. his other hand stayed firmly on your back, supporting you in case you got dizzy.

you swallowed the pills slowly, the water cold and refreshing against your dry throat.

hyunjin watched you carefully, his eyes flickering with concern at every small movement you made.

when you were done, he eased you back onto the pillows and gently placed the heating pad against your stomach.

"better?" he asked softly, adjusting the blanket around your shoulders.

"a little," you murmured. "thank you, jinnie."

"anything for you, baby," he said, smiling down at you. "now, close your eyes and rest for a bit. I'll be right here."

but before you could close your eyes, a sudden wave of nausea hit you, causing you to clutch your stomach with a low whimper.

hyunjin was quick to react, his hand steady on your shoulder.

"okay, okay," he whispered soothingly. "deep breaths, love. In through your nose, out through your mouth." his voice was calm and grounding, a steady anchor in the middle of the storm raging in your body.

he grabbed the trash can from beside the bed just in case, but luckily, the nausea began to fade after a few minutes.

still, hyunjin didn't leave your side, his fingers running gently through your hair as he murmured soft reassurances.

"poor thing," he muttered, pressing another kiss to your forehead. "you're so strong, you know that? I'm so proud of you."

the tenderness in his voice made your chest ache - not from pain, but from the overwhelming love you felt for him in that moment.

"stay with me?" you asked quietly, your fingers curling weakly around his sleeve.

"of course," he said without hesitation. he slid into bed beside you, wrapping his arms around your waist and pulling you close. his body was warm and comforting, his heartbeat steady against your back.

"I'm not going anywhere," he whispered, resting his chin on top of your head. "I'll be right here until you feel better."

safe in his embrace, the pain didn't feel quite as unbearable. the nausea slowly faded, the cramps dulled, and sleep began to pull at the edges of your consciousness.

just before you drifted off, you felt hyunjin press one last kiss to the top of your head.

"I love you, my sleepy little kitten," he whispered. "we'll get through this together."

and with him holding you so close, you knew that no matter how bad things got, you'd always be okay in the end.
