-------------------it was the first christmas you were spending together, officially as a couple.
snow had begun to fall in soft, lazy flakes the night before, blanketing the streets and rooftops in pure white.
from the moment you opened your eyes that morning, you knew it was going to be one of those perfect winter days where everything felt magical.
changbin was still asleep beside you, his arm draped lazily across your waist, his face peaceful in the early light.
"binnie," you murmured softly, brushing a strand of hair from his forehead. he stirred, grumbling something incoherent before burrowing closer into the covers.
you smiled, your heart swelling with affection. "wake up, sleepyhead. it's christmas."
at the mention of the holiday, his eyes fluttered open, and a slow grin spread across his face. "merry christmas, baby," he said, his voice rough with sleep. he pulled you closer, pressing a warm kiss to your forehead.
"let's go outside," you urged, practically bouncing in excitement. "the snow is perfect. let's build a snowman!"
changbin groaned playfully, burying his face into the pillow. "snowman? you're such a kid sometimes, you know that?"
"and that's why you love me," you teased, poking his side until he squirmed, laughter bubbling up between the two of you.
"fine, fine," he relented, rolling out of bed and stretching with a dramatic sigh. "but only because it's christmas and I can't say no to you, babe."
☃︎☃︎☃︎
an hour later, after breakfast, the two of you were bundled up in coats, scarves, and gloves, your boots crunching through the fresh snow as you made your way to the park near your apartment.
the air was crisp and cold, your breath visible in puffs as you spoke, but neither of you minded.
changbin carried a thermos of hot chocolate in one hand and your mitten-clad hand in the other. "alright, lovebug," he said, turning to you with a playful smirk. "where do you want to build this snowman?"
you scanned the park, your eyes lighting up when you spotted a flat, open patch of snow near a cluster of trees. "over there! it's perfect!"
"perfect for you to boss me around while I do all the work, huh?" he teased, squeezing your hand.
"oh, please," you shot back with a laugh. "you'll be thanking me when we build the best snowman this park has ever seen."
☃︎☃︎☃︎
the two of you got to work, rolling snow into large balls for the base, middle, and head of the snowman. changbin took charge of the bottom layer, his strong arms making quick work of packing and shaping the snow.
"look at you, binnie," you said, admiring his handiwork. "muscles and talent. what a catch."
he grinned, flexing dramatically. "anything for my snow queen."
you giggled, focusing on shaping the snowball for the snowman's head. but as you bent down to adjust it, a snowball hit you square in the back.
"changbin!" you gasped, spinning around to find him grinning mischievously, another snowball already in hand.
"oops," he said, feigning innocence. "did that hit you?"
"oh, it's on," you declared, scooping up a handful of snow and launching it at him.
the snowman was momentarily forgotten as the two of you engaged in an all-out snowball fight, laughter ringing out through the empty park.
changbin was quick, dodging most of your throws and retaliating with deadly accuracy. but you were clever, using trees and snowbanks as cover to sneak up on him.
eventually, you managed to tackle him into the snow, both of you collapsing into a pile of laughter and tangled limbs. "truce?" he asked, holding up his hands in surrender.
"truce," you agreed, though you couldn't resist smushing a handful of snow into his hair before standing up.
☃︎☃︎☃︎
with the snowball fight behind you, the two of you returned to the task at hand. changbin lifted the middle section onto the base with ease, then carefully placed the head on top. "not bad, huh?" he said, stepping back to admire your work.
"not bad at all," you agreed, beaming. "now he just needs a face and some accessories."
digging through the bag you'd brought, you pulled out a carrot for the nose, a few pebbles for the eyes and mouth, and a scarf to wrap around the snowman's neck. changbin helped you position everything, his hands steady and sure.
"what about arms?" he asked, glancing around.
"there!" you said, pointing to a pair of sticks lying under a nearby tree. he retrieved them, sticking them into the sides of the snowman's body.
when the snowman was finally complete, you stepped back together to admire your handiwork.
he wasn't perfect - one of his eyes was a little crooked, and his scarf was slightly askew - but he was yours, a testament to the fun and laughter you'd shared that morning.
"look at him," changbin said, slinging an arm around your shoulders. "our frosty little masterpiece."
"frosty?" you repeated, laughing. "we should name him something cooler than that."
"like what?"
"hmm... how about sir snowbin?"
changbin burst out laughing. "sir snowbin? really?"
"hey, it suits him," you said defensively, though you couldn't help but laugh along with him.
"alright, fine," he said, grinning. "sir snowbin it is."
☃︎☃︎☃︎
as the afternoon wore on, the two of you sat on a nearby bench, sharing the thermos of hot chocolate and watching as other families and couples enjoyed the snowy day. changbin's arm was wrapped around you, pulling you close against his side.
"thank you for dragging me out here," he said softly, pressing a kiss to your temple. "this has been the best christmas I've had in a long time."
"me too," you said, leaning into him. "it's not just the snow or the hot chocolate or sir snowbin. it's you, binnie. you make everything feel special."
he smiled, his eyes warm and filled with affection. "you're my everything, baby," he said, his voice low and sincere. "I don't need anything else as long as I have you."
your heart swelled at his words, and you tilted your head up to kiss him, the cold air forgotten as his lips met yours. it was a moment you knew you'd remember forever - a perfect snapshot of love and happiness in the midst of a winter wonderland.
☃︎☃︎☃︎
as the sun began to dip below the horizon, casting the park in shades of pink and gold, the two of you reluctantly made your way back home. but even as you left the park behind, sir snowbin standing proudly in the snow, you knew this was just the beginning of many magical moments to come.
"next year," changbin said as you walked hand in hand, "we should build a whole snow family. a little snow dog, maybe even a snow castle."
you laughed, your heart full. "I'll hold you to that, binnie."
and as the two of you disappeared into the glow of the holiday lights, the snow crunching softly beneath your boots, it was clear that this christmas - and every moment you shared together - was something truly special.
