-------------------the snow fell in soft, silent flakes outside the frosted windows of your shared apartment.
christmas had painted the world in hues of white and twinkling lights, and you were both thoroughly caught up in the spirit of the season.
inside, the scent of freshly baked cookies wafted through the air, mingling with the faint piney aroma of the decorated christmas tree in the corner. soft holiday music played in the background, providing the perfect soundtrack to your cozy evening with seungmin.
"yah, don't eat them all!" you scolded lightly, swatting seungmin's hand away as he tried to sneak another gingerbread cookie from the tray.
his mischievous grin was boyish and charming, the kind that always made your heart flutter despite your best efforts to remain stern.
"but they're so good, baby," he whined, popping a piece into his mouth before you could stop him. he chewed with an exaggerated look of satisfaction. "you outdid yourself this time, my love."
you rolled your eyes but couldn't stop the smile tugging at your lips. "flattery isn't going to save you from my wrath, seungmin-ah."
he chuckled and leaned against the kitchen counter, his oversized sweater slipping slightly off one shoulder.
the sight of him so relaxed and happy made your heart swell. he was like your very own christmas miracle, the way he could fill a room with warmth without even trying.
"you know you can't resist me," he teased, reaching out to boop your nose with flour-covered fingers.
"kim seungmin!" you gasped, grabbing a handful of flour from the counter and tossing it at him in retaliation.
what followed was a full-blown flour fight, with both of you laughing uncontrollably as white powder coated your clothes, hair, and the once-spotless kitchen.
by the time you both called a truce, you were out of breath and leaning against each other for support.
"you look ridiculous," seungmin said, brushing some flour from your cheek.
"and whose fault is that?" you shot back, though your tone was soft, your gaze lingering on his face. the golden glow of the christmas lights reflected in his eyes, making them shine even brighter than usual.
"mine," he admitted with a grin. then, he leaned down to kiss your forehead, a gesture so tender it made your knees weak. "let's clean up before we burn the cookies."
✾✾✾
later, after a quick clean-up and some much-needed hot chocolate, you and seungmin settled on the couch together.
the lights from the tree cast a magical glow over the room, and the soft crackle of the fireplace added to the atmosphere. seungmin had his arm around you, and you were snuggled against his chest, your legs tangled under a shared blanket.
"christmas with you is my favourite thing," he murmured, pressing a kiss to the top of your head.
"only christmas?" you teased, looking up at him with a playful pout.
"okay, fine," he relented, his lips quirking into a smile. "every day with you is my favourite thing. happy?"
"very," you replied, your grin matching his.
the two of you fell into a comfortable silence, the only sounds in the room being the crackling fire and the faint strains of a christmas carol. seungmin's fingers traced lazy patterns on your arm, and you felt utterly content.
that was until he suddenly sat up, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"what are you up to?" you asked warily, watching as he stood and walked toward the doorway to the kitchen.
"just wait here," he said, disappearing into the other room.
moments later, he returned, holding a small sprig of mistletoe. he dangled it above his head with a triumphant grin.
"really?" you asked, raising an eyebrow.
"really," he confirmed, stepping closer until he was standing in front of you. "it's tradition, baby."
you couldn't help but laugh at his determination. "you're such a dork."
"but I'm your dork," he shot back, his tone playful. then his expression softened, and he tilted his head slightly. "come here, jagiya."
you didn't need to be asked twice. rising to your feet, you stepped into his arms, the mistletoe still dangling above his head.
he pulled you close, his hands resting on your waist as he looked down at you with an intensity that made your breath catch.
"you know," he said softly, his voice barely above a whisper, "I don't need mistletoe as an excuse to kiss you. but I'll take any chance I can get."
your heart fluttered at his words, and before you could respond, he leaned in. the kiss was slow and sweet, filled with the kind of love that didn't need words to be expressed. his lips were warm against yours, and the world seemed to fade away until it was just the two of you.
when you finally pulled back, his forehead rested against yours, and his eyes were filled with a softness that made your chest ache.
"merry christmas," he whispered, his breath ghosting over your lips.
"merry christmas," you replied, your voice just as quiet.
✾✾✾
the rest of the evening was spent in a haze of warmth and happiness.
you exchanged gifts by the fire, your laughter echoing through the apartment as you teased each other about your choices.
seungmin had gotten you a pair of fuzzy slippers shaped like reindeer, and you couldn't stop giggling every time you looked at them.
"they're practical and adorable," he defended, though his grin gave him away.
"I love them," you assured him, slipping them on and wiggling your toes.
your gift to him was a handmade scrapbook filled with photos and mementoes from your time together. as he flipped through the pages, his expression shifted from amused to deeply touched.
"you made this?" he asked, his voice filled with awe.
"of course," you said, feeling a little shy under his gaze. "I wanted to give you something meaningful."
he closed the book and pulled you into a tight hug, his chin resting on your shoulder. "it's perfect," he murmured. "thank you, baby."
✾✾✾
later, as the night grew quieter and the world outside was wrapped in a blanket of snow, you found yourselves back on the couch.
seungmin was humming along to a christmas song, his voice soft and melodic, and you couldn't help but smile as you watched him.
"do you know how much I love you?" you asked, breaking the silence.
he looked at you, his expression turning serious. "I have an idea, but feel free to remind me."
you leaned in and kissed him again, your hands cupping his face as you poured all your feelings into the gesture. when you pulled back, his eyes were shining, and his smile was brighter than the christmas lights.
"I love you too," he said, his voice steady and sure.
as the clock struck midnight and christmas day officially began, you realized that there was no place you'd rather be than here, in seungmin's arms, surrounded by the magic of the season and the warmth of his love.
that was the kind of christmas memory you'd cherish forever.
