-----------------the smell of freshly baked gingerbread filled the cozy little apartment you shared with jisung.
christmas was in full swing, evident from the soft glow of fairy lights strung along the windows and the faint sound of holiday music playing in the background.
outside, snow fell gently, creating a picturesque scene, but inside was where the true magic was about to happen.
"baby, where are the gumdrops?" jisung called from the kitchen counter, a hint of panic in his voice. his face peeked out from behind the towering array of bowls filled with candies, frosting, and sprinkles.
"they're right next to the candy canes, love," you replied with a soft laugh, stepping into the kitchen with a steaming mug of hot cocoa in hand.
"oh." jisung grinned sheepishly, brushing his fluffy hair out of his face. "found them!"
you placed the cocoa on the counter and leaned over to inspect his work. the gingerbread house was still in the early stages - its walls standing precariously, held together by copious amounts of white icing.
jisung had been surprisingly enthusiastic about this little christmas tradition, even though his usual artistic medium was music, not sugar and cookies.
"you're doing great so far, sungie," you teased, running a hand lightly down his arm. "but you're going to need a little more icing here, or the roof might collapse."
he turned to you, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "what's the worst that could happen? we'll just eat the mess."
you giggled, swiping a dollop of frosting onto your finger and smearing it on his nose. "there, now you're part of the house."
jisung gasped dramatically, his hands flying to his face. "oh, you did not just-"
before you could react, he dipped his finger into the icing bowl and dabbed it on your cheek, laughing at your mock outrage.
"jisung!" you squealed, trying to dodge him as he reached for another dollop. but you were no match for his quick reflexes, and soon enough, both of you were covered in bits of frosting.
"truce?" you offered breathlessly, holding your hands up in surrender.
he chuckled, his grin so wide it made your heart skip a beat. "fine. truce. but only because we have a gingerbread masterpiece to create."
you both got back to work, side by side at the counter. jisung's tongue peeked out in concentration as he carefully spread icing along the edges of the roof, his brows furrowed in determination. you couldn't help but smile at how serious he was taking it.
"what?" he asked, catching your gaze.
"nothing," you said softly, resting your chin in your hand. "you're just really cute when you're focused."
a pink flush crept up his cheeks, and he looked away, mumbling, "stop distracting me, or this roof is definitely going to collapse."
the two of you worked in tandem, your laughter filling the air as you decorated the house.
you took charge of the finer details, like piping tiny icicles along the eaves, while jisung took great joy in sticking as many candies as possible onto the roof.
"babe, I think we're going to run out of gumdrops," you pointed out, gesturing to the nearly empty bowl.
"that's because you gave me a design challenge," he replied, gesturing to the vibrant candy pattern he'd created. "art takes sacrifice."
you rolled your eyes playfully. "I'm sure it does, picasso."
after what felt like hours, the gingerbread house was finally complete. it stood proudly on the counter, adorned with colourful candies, intricate icing designs, and just a hint of chaos - much like the two of you.
"not bad, huh?" jisung said, stepping back to admire your handiwork.
"not bad at all," you agreed, slipping your arms around his waist and resting your head on his shoulder. "I think it's perfect."
he turned to face you, his hands resting on your hips. "you know what would make this even better?"
"what?" you asked, tilting your head curiously.
"a kiss from my favourite person." his voice was soft, his eyes full of warmth as he leaned closer.
you smiled, your heart swelling with love as you closed the distance between you. the kiss was sweet, gentle, and filled with all the love and joy of the holiday season.
when you pulled away, jisung rested his forehead against yours, a content sigh escaping his lips. "merry christmas, baby."
"merry christmas, sungie," you whispered, feeling like the luckiest person in the world.
the two of you spent the rest of the evening sipping hot cocoa and admiring your gingerbread creation, the warm glow of the christmas lights reflecting in jisung's eyes.
as snow continued to fall outside, you couldn't imagine a more perfect way to celebrate the season - with your love by your side and a house full of sweetness, both inside and out.
