you never understood how someone could get under your skin so effortlessly. yet, somehow, minho managed to do it every time.

whether it was his smug little smirks, his razor-sharp sarcasm, or the way he always had a retort ready before you could even finish a sentence - he drove you absolutely insane.

it wasn't always this way. you weren't sure when the mutual disdain started, but now it was just the way things were.

you tolerated each other because you had to. because your friend group overlapped, and avoiding him was impossible.

because despite everything, he was reliable, even if he was insufferable.

that's why, as much as you hated it, he was the first person you thought to call when you realized something was wrong.

the walls felt like they were closing in. your breath was shallow, your hands trembling as you fumbled with your phone.

you had always hated small spaces, but this - this was different.

it wasn't just the suffocating walls of the locked bathroom at your friend's house; it was the gnawing sense of dread settling in your stomach. something felt off.

your head was spinning, your limbs heavier than they should be. maybe it was just the panic setting in, or maybe it was something worse.

the thought made your heart hammer against your ribs. you had barely touched your drink at dinner, but had someone...? no, you didn't want to think about that possibility.

still, you needed to get out. your friends were still downstairs, the party was still going, but your voice felt too weak to yell. the air was too thick, pressing against your lungs. your fingers, clammy and cold, scrolled through your contacts.

and then, against every ounce of reason, you pressed his name.

the phone rang twice before his voice came through.

the familiar drawl of your name was laced with confusion. "you never call me. are pigs flying outside?"

you tried to answer with your usual sarcasm, something sharp to match his tone, but all that came out was a shaky breath. that was all it took.

minho went quiet for a beat. then, his voice dropped to something softer, something you weren't used to. "what's wrong?"

your pride screamed at you to hang up, but your fear wouldn't let you. "I-I think something's wrong. I don't feel right, and the door won't open."

there was no hesitation. "where are you?"

you swallowed the dizziness. "yeshim's house."

"where?" minho's voice came from the other line.

"the bathroom. upstairs."

"I'm coming."

and then the line went dead.
