Chapter 58: Insecurities

On the wedding day, Ishika was dressed in a beautiful saree, feeling joyful in her room.

Suddenly, Maanvi rushed in and said, “We can’t find Jiju anywhere!”

“What?” Ishika exclaimed in shock.

“We’ve searched everywhere, but he’s nowhere to be found.”

Ishika’s heart began pounding rapidly. Without wasting a moment, she ran out and started searching for him everywhere.

A troubling thought crossed her mind, "Did Shashank do something to him?"

As she wandered around in search of him, she reached the buffet area. There, she noticed a hand sticking out from behind the ice cream counter. Rushing over, she found Ujjwal sitting on the floor, quietly eating ice cream from a bowl.

Placing her hand on her forehead, Ishika sighed. “What am I going to do with this man?”

Hearing her voice, Ujjwal quickly tried to hide the bowl behind his back.

“Kumar, what are you doing?” Ishika asked sternly.

Ujjwal’s heart skipped a beat as he saw Ishika in her saree. He had only seen her in a saree once before, and she looked stunning. Embarrassed, he lowered his head, caught red-handed with ice cream.

“Kumar, you know eating ice cream gives you a cold, especially in this cold weather. If you keep eating it now, you’ll get sick.”

“I was just checking if everything at the buffet was prepared properly,” Ujjwal lied, trying to defend himself.

Ishika pointed toward another counter. “Really? If you’ve checked everything, tell me what’s over there.”

Ujjwal shifted slightly to read the label on the other counter, but Ishika’s sharp glare made him freeze in place.

“Strawberry ice cream?” he guessed nervously.

Once again, Ishika placed her hand on her forehead.

She walked over to the counter and opened the lid. “See, it’s not-” Her words trailed off as she saw strawberry ice cream inside.

She moved to the third counter, opened the lid, and was stunned to find more ice cream there too.

Looking around for Ujjwal, she saw him sneaking away toward his room. “Kumar, did you only order ice cream, or did you arrange for other food too?” she called after him.

Panting, Ujjwal reached his room.

“She looked so beautiful in that saree,” he thought to himself, smiling.

He quickly began getting ready for the ceremony.

The wedding went smoothly.

Ishika insisted on sharing the expenses equally with Ujjwal.

Everyone was happy, but none more so than Ishika. She was overflowing with joy.

However, large crowds, bright lights, and excessive decorations often triggered Ishika’s anxiety, as she had bad memories of being criticized by relatives in such environments.

Knowing this, Ujjwal had carefully planned the wedding venue to be simple- no bright lights, minimal decorations, and only a small gathering of close friends and family.

Ujjwal made decision: from now on, Ishika’s mother and sister would live with them in their house. Since there were two bedrooms, one would be for him and Ishika, while the other would be for her family. This gesture made Ishika incredibly happy.
