Chapter 28 : Cold breeze

All the relatives start eating.

Vihaan takes his first bite and closes his eyes. He's really enjoying the food today.

His heart had already filled up when he saw Ujjwal in a painful state.

Anay and Swara were about to start eating. Anay messages Ujjwal, asking them to join them for the meal.

In response, Ujjwal messages back, "I'll only be able to come out with Ishika once all the relatives have eaten and gone home. You and Swara finish your meal and head home."

Gradually, the relatives start leaving. Vihaan's gaze shifts towards the washroom.

He chuckles to himself. He wants to see in what state Ujjwal and Ishika will emerge.

He checks the storage on his phone to make sure there's enough space to record their helpless situation again.

This will turn him into the second sadist. Of course, the first one is Shashank.

Shashank is at home eating with Mitali and Arnav.

He has earphones in his ears and a phone in one hand, watching a video that Vihaan sent him, while he eats with his other hand.

He keeps rewinding the part of the video where Ishika is seen crying.

In his mind, he says, "This is a gift, Ujjwal, for that complaint you filed in the complaint room." He starts laughing while eating.

Arnav and Mitali can't see what's playing on his phone.

Arnav sees his elder brother laughing and he smiles too. He has no idea that, besides being a textile merchant, his brother torments his enemies this much.

Mitali is also happy because Shashank being happy is what matters most to her. If Shashank is angry, then he vents his anger on her.

It's 10 PM, and all the relatives have left for their homes.

Ishika lifts her head from Ujjwal's chest and looks up. "I'm hungry, Kumar."

"Let's go outside, Ishika. The noise has stopped, which means everyone has left."

"Okay," Ishika says, getting up by holding onto his shoulders.

He also gets up.

Both of them step out of the washroom.

The whole place feels deserted. A cold breeze blows, causing Ishika to cross her arms over her chest.

As they walk, Ishika has trouble walking properly.

"What happened?" Ujjwal asks.

Ishika lifts her knee-length kurti slightly to show her knees, which are bleeding.

"I fell while running," Ishika says.

"Then let's go to the doctor first and get it bandaged," Ujjwal suggests.

"No, it's not that bad. I'll bandage it at home," Ishika replies.

"Okay, but for now, let's tie a handkerchief around it," Ujjwal says, bending down and gently tying his and her handkerchiefs around her knees.

Then, Ujjwal holds her hand and starts walking. Suddenly, he notices some people standing a little further away- it's the caterers.

Ujjwal helps Ishika into the car.

"I'll be right back, Ishika," he says, closing the car door.

Ujjwal walks over to the caterers, who are preparing to eat after everyone has left.

"Will you all have enough food? There won't be a shortage, right?" Ujjwal asks.

"There's a shortage, sir," one of the men replies.

"How many people are short?" Ujjwal asks.

"Three people, sir," the man responds.

"Alright, I'll bring food for three people right away," Ujjwal says and heads back to his car.

He gets into the car. Ishika asks, "Where did you go, Kumar?"

"To the caterers. There's shortage of food for three people, so we'll bring them food first. Can you hold off your hunger for a little while, Ishika?" Ujjwal fastens his seatbelt.

"Yes," Ishika says, closing her eyes.

Ujjwal stops by a nearby restaurant and orders food for three people.

Meanwhile, Vihaan records another video and sends it to Shashank, capturing the moment Ujjwal bends down to tie the handkerchief around Ishika's knees.

As soon as Shashank receives the video notification, his eyes light up.

After picking up the food from the restaurant, Ujjwal gets back into the car and sees that Ishika has fallen asleep.

Ujjwal thinks about taking Ishika to the mall, where they can eat and maybe do some shopping to distract her.

He starts driving and soon arrives at the venue of the family function.

He walks over to the caterers and hands them the bags of food.

"Thank you, sir," one of the men says.

"Mention not," Ujjwal says, heading back to his car.

He sits in the car and starts driving towards the mall.

"Kumar..." Ishika whispers.

Ujjwal looks at her and realizes she's talking in her sleep.

They reach the mall, and Ujjwal parks the car. He gently kisses Ishika on the cheek.

"Wake up, Ishika, we've arrived at the mall."

Ishika slowly opens her eyes.

"The mall? Why?" she asks softly.

"For dinner, and maybe we'll buy something if you like."

"Okay," Ishika says, unfastening her seatbelt.

They have dinner at the food hall. After eating, Ishika starts to feel better.
